lol low key my nikka gunn been bodied on a few features. i think the most egregious was ya mans royce on 100,000 machine gunz, i would have kicked royce out the studio and sent him on the first thing smoking back to detroit. it was disgusting yet gorgeous
but to me gunn ain't trying to out rap your favorite rapper. he's trying to out swag them with the charisma and stylistic choices. love his shyt man, he cracks me up
say word. you think gunn's style is similar to roc marci? nah i don't see it at all. roc is just a superior emcee in every capacity and gunn could only dream to write at that god level. yesterday i was bumpin that willie the kid avalon joint ft roc and and i almost threw my microwave out the window son. roc said some shyt about my corpse turn to butterflies
gunn is more from the rae and ghost wheelhouse but not as nice lyrically
No one was doing that same sound though. Like the smooth obscure samples with no drums. I think roc gave all them people that sound, like he did with KA. Even some younger people switched up when they heard Roc, like Retch. Gun is more from rae, but the influence is still pretty big, and i find myself just waiting for the Roc verse when hes featured with them

gunn is more from ghost not rae. his whole style is derivative of tony. '94 ghost, supreme blientele, suede mutumbos, fish freestyle, messhall talk is low key similar in swag to child's play, etc etc etc

This may sound weird but WSG is much better if you think of him as a producer rapper. That’s what he is at the end of the day. He may not make beats but he’s definitely a producer, and thinking about it from that frame makes it better. I think he definitely plans for most of the features to be better than him. There’s a reason when their whole crew goes on sway or flex and he lets Benny and Conway freestyle but he never jumps in
I listen to his projects the way I listen to Pete Rock projects for example. I expect Pete to hold his own and have some decent hooks but I never expect him to have the show stealing verse
