LeBron was a DPoY candidate in 2009 and one of the leagues best distributors out the gate

He won when he got a secondary playmaker.

Luka doesn’t have that. U don’t want THJ dribbling all he has is a size up pull up. Brunson and Burke are back up PG’s. The team wouldn’t go any further with him off the ball and the Clippers are the better team.

Bron was being called the best player in the game when he wasn't playing defense. He didn't start playing defense until he saw Kobe turn into the doberman in 08 Olympics. Bron was already going into Y6 at that point. Bron didn't learn to play off the ball some until Miami. Consequently, him playing defense and learning to play off the ball concurrently is when he won a ring. It's not a coincidence.

LeBron always played defense. In his rookie year they had him guarding across positions I watched a game where they had him on Gary Payton. Year 6 is just when he broke out as one of the best defenders in the league. There was more comp for All-Defensive teams at the forward spots than the guard.

His defensive analytics have always been above average (better than Kobe’s). Cavs defense was above average while he was there in the first stint.

Didn’t start playing defense until he was around Kobe. :mjlol:

Kobe may have inspired to ramp up further because he went hard and took pride and was an OG on the team but don’t say he didn’t play defense before the ‘08 Olympics.

Yup, from 2003-2008, LeBron was an immobile traffic cone on defense. U nikkas man.

Bron didn’t have secondary playmakers. Hughes was often injured and was a shell of himself. Mo and Delonte were undersized 2’s. Snow was just a table setter and defender.

Okay...so then

1) Who besides Earvin Johnson was a player described like so who actually did win immediately?

2) does anyone (besides OP, I guess) actually expect players described like so to win immediately?
Or do most recognize that it takes time for these players to adjust to The A, and get the right situation around them?

Another common theme with these types of player is their delusional fanboys will get upset and call you a hater for pointing for calling out their problems while shytting on their whole team to prop them up

Its why i dont get the hate these folks have for players like Lebron.

Imagine the coli in the 80s where a young Jordan couldnt get his team a ring but had all the numbers and skills.

nikkas would have threads like "MJ a stat freak but cant win shyt"

Its crazy how the internet has given a platform to all these weird ass hot takes and people run with it. Crazy.
Jordan largely had a storybook 90s with a few hiccups so people have a skewed view of his career I think that's the problem.

Dude played a grand total of two playoffs series, lost the first in 6 with his sidekick injured and the second in 7 against what many consider a title contender led by a two-time Finals MVP and brehs start pushing narratives. Ain't he like 22 or 23 anyway lmao

Oh i know that. But luka is in his what, 3rd year. Imagine Jordan in his 1986 getting flack for his team getting swept by the Celtics (a championship team) if the coli and internet was around

Luka took his team to game 7 vs a championship built team in his 3rd year.

Internet has ruined sports. Its allows weirdos to have access to express their opinions for the mass to see.

People in the 80s just watched and enjoyed top players. Not stan them or make weird hottakes.

Bron wasn't a good defender prior to 08, those are facts

OP is facts. its really hard to win playing that way. looking at the past, harden's rockets always struggled in the playoffs. bron's teams had more success because bron is top 3 all time and they played really good defense on the other end, something the mavs cant do at all

spamming 4 out high pnr over and over all game isnt conducive to winning in the playoffs. it leads to stagnation and his teammates not being confident with the ball when they have to do something with it othe rthan shoot. looking specifically at richardson who showed he's a quality starting guard in the league and his confidence was absolutely killed because carlisle would yank him after missing a shot.

they need to incorporate sets specifically to get kp looks on the block and midpost. if carlisle is unwilling to do that im sorry but he needs to move to a front office role and they can find someone who does
