:heh: What is this fakkit talking about? 1700 is not even getting you a studio nowhere, champ.
Ehh, you can definitely find studios and one bedrooms for under $1700 in the 5 boroughs

Probably more in the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island and less in Brooklyn and Manhattan but those apartments are out there

Those apartments are made to fleece tourists or impressionable young folks who want to be in the center of it all in Manhattan. No one who has lived in NYC long enough would even consider that apartment when there are ton of better options in nearby neighborhoods.

I don’t think that apartment unit is legal although it’s workable to live in it

$2500 can get you a luxury apartment in the Bronx with 30 minute access to midtown

Idiot shyt to pay for this

word that's not a terrible apartment even if it's overpriced.

2500 a month in the Bronx is comfy, especially if you live near the big parks. That's also why I never recommend anyone move near where I am

and when that Chik Fil-A finally opens :ohlawd:

What’s there to rethink? If you can’t afford it, don’t move to the city. Thinking you’re gonna live out some “New York dream” :heh:
the rent is artificially inflated due to vacant units, many of which are rent stabilized as well as a failure to build enough and what they build is "luxury" for people that don't even live here. these are systemic failure rooted in unchecked capitalism. your take on this is lazy and juvenile

That's not bad for middle of the city in Manhattan and honestly is bigger than I thought. Wouldn't be me though...

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
That’s $30,000 a year.

To someone making $150,000 a year, they’ll still have over $5700 a month left over. $700 for utilities/food. $2000 in savings. I mean. That’s who these landlords are targeting.

That’s the type of place if you make mid/high six figures, to go to in order to save and eventually move.

Place is hideous but agree with the comments that location matters for a lot of people
Not everyone wants to ride out from 30 minutes away on the subway or stuck in traffic/ deal with the hassle of parking
Locally this person might have their workplace, their gym, shops etc. all close and they pay for it in square footage
They could maximize their work productivity and time for self-care in the time it takes to travel each day
