I'm always hearing that, but I don't really buy it. Yes, Shawty Redd was using those fast hi-hats, but they didn't switch up like Lex's. Yeah, I guess he does sound similar to Lex a bit, but Lex changed the game a lot more than Shawty Redd. shyt, Lex's sound has gone mainstream/pop.

Hip hop just moves in circles there's never been major changes in its sound

Producers always think they're on some next shyt or they're setting new trends but really everything in hip hop sounds pretty close to something else

Like this one artist described his new single as a new combination of trap and boom bap but really it just sounded like a wack early 2000's Eric Sermon/Rockwilder east coast keyboard beat
