What I don’t understand is how these companies trying to replace white collar workers with ai, but at the same time here in nyc they’re building skyscrapers because they don’t have enough office space. So who’s going to work in them if they’re trying to replace workforce with ai?

how would you know egrow? your press is biased and refuses to talk about the real world outside of the states.

the charts are out there. gdp per capita. living standards. development index. transparency index.

the biggest US advantage is that america offers opportunities to non-gringos.

the indians running google et-al are not doing that with swiss companies anytime soon.

meanwhile swiss and norwegians are not rushing to move to america. despite trump's comments about the types he wants.

it is people from poorer countries and non-gringos who do not get the same opportunities in europe/australia.

the following are perennial problems and nothing to do with "the party in charge"

universal health care, reliable electricity, good roads / infrastructure, effective quality public transport, healthy food, quality universal primary education, free universities ...

and we haven't even started on the downsides like dangerous foods, violence, crime levels, clean water ...
If I’m a skilled SWE/EE and these industries are thriving here why would I want to live in those countries compared to America at its best?

Those countries have nice high-floor and safety net features, but ceiling-wise America stomps them.

For example, don’t need good public transportation when I can easily afford a Honda and have a lot of money to spend because I have a high-paying American job.

When leadership isn’t a drag America provides a ton of opportunity to level up and have excess basics as well.

So many office spaces are empty, why would anyone build skyscrapers for office space or condos is foolish right now . We have surpluses of unaffordable housing & office space

If I’m a skilled SWE/EE

so is every 2nd breh on here

but you are clearly not an economist or sociologist.

and america-typical are not widely read.

and these industries are thriving here why would I want to live in those countries compared to America at its best?

because you are a breh.

Those things are applicable when you’re not doing good financially. Those countries have nice high-floor and safety net features, but ceiling-wise America stomps them.

For example, don’t need good public transportation when I can easily afford a Honda

yeah honda.

meanwhile in germany taxis are mercs.

and have a lot of money to spend because I have a high-paying American job.

I’ve proven I know my stuff breh. I can talk Circuits, Electromagnetics, Physics, Math, etc. have been in the Software threads. Been a professional full stack SWE going back to 2017. Recently got my Bachelor’s in EE.

Regarding the other countries:
All that stuff is nice, but again none of those places have the luxuries like America. Don’t let the fact me being a Democrat that wants to see people do well confuse the fact that at the end of the day I live in Los Angeles/San Diego and make good money. I really find it hard to believe any of those other countries you circle offer the things I can get from these cities, easily, and see day-to-day.

I lived here my entire life, even when I didn’t have much money and did fine. Republicans make that shyt harder than it needs to be and that’s why they’re a problem.

As I understand companies looking for modern office space that has a lot of space. There’s empty offices but they’re outdated and small

i am not doubting you. that is not what i meant. i am saying that you are not the only one in those threads.

that's nonsense. quality of manufacturing is low in the states i.e. crap quality on average.

also you know salaries are higher in switzerland than in the USA - even with all the free/subsidised stuff.

because your news/TV is crap.

and is about to get worse with the coming political influence post the trump influenced sales.

meanwhile the swiss have real democracy to add to all of their other advantages.
