i am not doubting you. that is not what i meant. i am saying that you are not the only one in those threads.

that's nonsense. quality of manufacturing is low in the states i.e. crap quality on average.

also you know salaries are higher in switzerland than in the USA - even with all the free/cheap stuff.

because your news/TV is crap.

and is about to get worse with the coming political influence post the trump influenced sales.

meanwhile the swiss have real democracy to add to all of their other advantages.

and the reason you don't know all of this already is ...

Again, lived here my entire life through good and bad economies. Maybe the fact I don’t want to even bother looking elsewhere might give a clue as to why myself (and many others) don’t want to leave?

I’ve travelled as well. Been to different countries know people from different countries and many of my extended family come from other countries.

Now, you’re not from here so the same you’re stating about me not living in Europe can be flipped around and asked to you: how do you know if you moved here when times are great it wouldn’t be better?

To me, as an Engineer, the tradeoffs are worth it staying here and trying to see it get better via better leadership. The things I have access to are good enough and some other aspects of how it all comes together at it’s best are things I highly doubt I can get anywhere else. The fact LA and SD to me is a two hour drive with a beautiful coastline connecting them is tough to beat for example.

It goes way deeper than that , they keep giving the military & law enforcement everything they need though

Law enforcement is blowing city budgets with overtime & Flock safety

Sounds like the college i worked at. They'd hire people as campus pd for $45K but when they had a shortage they had to pay local pd $55-60/hr for 14hs a day for a year. It was crazy.

most of my family is in the states. most are american citizens.

i have been coming to the states regularily since i was a child.

i am in the states now.

i went to uni in europe and in the states.

i work for banks and study economics and finance (debt instruments).

i have worked in switzerland and have visited switzerland many times. i speak german (high).

i have been to norway. i speak swedish and can make out basic norweigian.

To me, as an Engineer, the tradeoffs are worth it staying here and fighting.

that babble / capple. leave your "crusades" for discussions with others.

this is an intellectual matter. and the charts which i have posted say you are wrong.

here is another one re: HDI.

Vacationing is different than living and grinding.

Nonetheless it sounds like you come to the states to work. Why not stay and find a job in Europe that doesn’t require travel to such a “lowly” America then, especially if you speak all those European languages?

If you don’t work in the U.S, why come here at all? Why does your family not want to move to Europe?

you now have links showing swiss gdp per cap, HDI, salaries are higher but want to go with your feelings.

that's hardly becoming of a fact driven programmer but ok.

Sure.

Why keep traveling here?
Why does your family not move to Europe?

These are relevant questions because living and working in America is a real life thing people do.

Again, I like the pay and amount of opportunities combined with things being convenient when this county is at its best. LA/SD additionally has great weather, diversity, nightlife, chill, vibe, views, etc. Meeting new tourists from all over the world. You can’t quantify those things accurately without an insane Partial Differential Equation much too complex for a table/chart but they all contribute to the positives.

so that is that concluded then.

Why not keep coming here?
Why does your family not move to Europe?

yeah i can't have a discussion limited by the guardrails of what passes for US intellectual thought.

separation of church and state.

separation of facts and politics.

separation of rational from emotion.

TL;DR those are questionable gambits. if you want a response, for brevity, i am going to need you to assert something.

You can’t define those other factors I mentioned without an insane Partial Differential Equation. They’re real factors.

If you nor I want to write an accurate one then cool, discussion concluded.

I imagine they will print money. That will allow the billionaires to get richer and help amerikkka pay its debts. Politicians (dem and gop) if having to choose will choose to save the billionaires instead of everyone at the bottom. They will be completely ok with hyperinflation and double digit unemployment

Its disingenuous to compare a country with a population of 9 million to the U.S. with a population of 330 million.

Compare Switzerland to just California.
