doing a slow rewatch of gintama. maybe an episode or two a day.
it's even funnier now that I understand more of the parodies. picking up on the post-colonial criticism with the Amanto invasion being a reference to the influence of western imperialism.
favorite thing about Gintama was how it fit the jokes in between segments charged with sentimentality, bits of social commentary, and every so often having fight sequences that look ripped straight out of a battle shounen. more or less the total package if you stick with it.
think it has potential of being in my top 2 all time if I ever finished it.
