2021 in anime for me had MT, 86 & Fruit baskets as the best shows BY FAR.

You basically touched on any point I would make. The romance is well written and it is a 10/10 drama show with so many well written characters. I have no idea if S3 was rushed cause it was the only 1 cour season and I haven’t read the manga.

Anyone not giving it a chance because it’s a shoujo and/or romance is doing them a disservice.

To my memory of the manga, S3 wasn’t rushed. Though they could’ve milked the pacing if they really wanted to.

Basically, if you’re ever going to touch a romantic drama then this would be the one to watch. It doesn’t have the problems that usually make these kind of shows hit or miss such as a lack of meaningful conflict beyond typical juvenile issues, slow progression, shallow characters who are no more than their personality tropes/designs, cliff hanger ending that tells you to go read the manga/LN for a conclusion, distracting fanservice, etc.

I believe the final season is top 10 on MAL all time. Seems crazy until you watch it.

I feel you on that. Cause you know how people here be calling shows and series mid and shyt has no consistent meaning. (Some saying it to call something garbage and while others including me using it to indicate average like you did above. )

Fam I feel you. shyt is crazy how that word gets thrown around for everything.

Mid will always mean average to me. (a 5 on the 1-10 scale)

its like that old Jadakiss line, "If a nikka half nice, that mean he half wack." :mjlol:

Caught up to Bleach. Renji being useless as usual put a smile on my face. Just like old times. I'm glad I don't remember much about this arc from the manga so I can watch it with a relatively fresh perspective. Has been nothing short of great so far.

Just finished Vinland :wow:

As good as the 1st half of it was, the 2nd half of S1 just took things to a complete different level. It fleshed out Caunte and Askleadd terrifically. Askleadd went from a character you were going to hate but then just have nothing but respect for the man. God damn Thors legit might be the closest we had to a good character in this show. Also fukking Thorkell is one entertaining psycho.

Got to feel bad for Thorfinn, but man Thors would be disappointed with you. He was a slave to revenge and look where that got him.

World building top notch. Awesome music. Great animation. Easily my most anticipated for next season and aint even close.

Kenpachi getting that protective booking, even his Ls aren't televised in full. Yhwach comes off monstrous but Kenpachi doesn't look weak in comparison.

Renji on the other hand... :picard:

Finished all 73 episodes of Fruits Basket remake + the movie. This was the kind of experience that makes me appreciate what anime has to offer when the effort and direction is there. It adapted the source material almost panel by panel, just as I remembered it, and delivered a sincere message about processing trauma that can be appreciated by anyone.

There were about 20 notable characters in this show. Every single one was given a backstory, development, and a chance to narrate the story from their perspective. All of them had in common struggles with past instances of abuse, neglect or grief that made it difficult for them to move forward in life, and a lot of the anime is spent working through those issues with the help of others. The emotional pay off once they do face their problems head on and break the (literal) curse hanging over their lives is cathartic to watch, as there's so much internal suffering happening to likable personalities throughout this show. and it gets....really ugly, before getting any better.

I thought the two predominant themes were - it's difficult, if not impossible, to sincerely love another if you loathe yourself. That forgiveness is necessary to move forward, as hard as that may be, but some things are so vile that not everyone is able to ever let go of how they were wronged. Both themes were developed well throughout.

Pretty easily a 10/10, top 5 anime kind of thing for me. Best of its genre.

best op/ed -

I’m on season 2 i have a hard time watching it not because it isn’t good it’s cuz almost like a ptsd for me from a past event that I have to watch it randomly on and off but it throws off how I feel about it I know it’s damn good storytelling wise but I’m trying to binge it or keep the episodes close together not so space out to really enjoy it and get a feel for it but it’d been hard for me. Gonna try a different approach maybe to it so I can get thru it tho

I lol'd when Byakuya told him to sit back and observe their techniques as backup. Every bleach veteran knew what the result would be.
Since the Quincy seem to have scouting reports on the Soul Reapers I really wonder what Renji's says:mjlol:

I feel that. There are a lot of triggers in the show. I'll just say the resolution to all the conflict is satisfying enough to get through it all.

Byakuya would probably be legit offended if Renji had succeeded against As Nodt considering he's using his stolen bankai. Honestly, it's his fault though, he's trained him all these years and he still ain't nowhere near Captain status despite having a bankai.

Got one of, if not the best Shikai/Bankai combinations and constantly getting dog walked by the upper tiers. :snoop:

Still, looking at the rest of the Lieutenants, he's probably the strongest. I mean damn, Omeda still exists.

I'm just now realizing how weak the current lieutenants are. Ikkaku the strongest non-captain if he actually used his bankai? but he doesn't wanna go all out.

They clearly need to recruit the former espada to win. Haribel, transformed Nel, wherever Grimmjow is at, and...Aizen?:picard:

Bruh don't do this to yourself lol. Back in the day I had no choice but to watch the fillers weekly. Now you can easily skip it....make your way to the next arc
I was thinking that too. I was like I couldn’t imagine having to watch this weekly. I’m at least almost 40 episodes in.

That means this arc has been on for at least a year or more.

Couldn’t imagine.
