My current list:

Wistoria: Wand and Sword: These last few episodes have really blown me away. I'm digging the friendships that are being established and the rivalry between Will and Sion. I can see them all climbing the tower together. It's kinda cool how their little team encompasses all the elements. The last episode was nice, but I'm genuinely concerned that NOBODY thought to do that trick Will and Sion did until Rosty showed up. And I want to know if it's because of Will's sword or is it Will? The flashback made me think that Will is some sort of gifted being. I'm curious about those two enemy mages, especially Headless. I like his character concept.
Ossan Newbie: I'm enjoying the pace of this show and the introduction of other adventurers. The recent episode with Rick and Broughston really showcased how powerful Rick is when he has a little confidence. I can see why Broughston said what he said about him a few episodes back. It was nice to see Kelvins true range and capabilities. Dude is strong AF. I want Angelica to join the crew. She has the talent, she just needs the training.
Slime: I always watch this one either first or last, but the easy-going atmosphere brings a smile to my face, especially before everything hits the fan later on. Rimuru's crew is getting incredibly strong and I love that Milim is jumping in to help. It's a slice of life so there's more casual/funny dialogue than action right now. It's hilarious how everybody starts out as Rimuru's enemy and then they become friends over the most simplest shyt 😂. Like the Elf Queen. I just knew that was coming when she asked about Mr. Yoshida.
Delico's Nursery: I honestly have no idea why I like this show, but I'm invested. It's interesting to see vampires without all the glitz and glamour, and sometimes I wonder how strong they really are cause Delico and the vampire society stay getting bodied by outsiders. I'm just waiting for some more lore drops at this point, to make sense of the world and who TRUMP is.
Failure Frame: I'm always hype to catch up on Failure Frame. It's probably my favorite show on air right now. These recent episodes have been going by a little fast, but there's so much of the storyline in each episode and the action is A1 for me. It's awesome seeing Touka get his crew together. I'm curious to see if he's going to run into his old classmates again, especially after the recent episode. I hated how it ended 😩 I needed moar! (Seras is so damn cute lol I love her ❤️)
Tower of God: I didn't think Rachel could piss me off anymore, but this season she really passed the point of no return. I just hope that when Bam sees her again he's not fooled by those crocodile tears or that sinister ssa smile. The storyline is convoluted with backstabbers. It's going to be interesting to see how Bam's old crew and new crew gets along. And I wonder if that guide is going to betray Bam or Khun. You just never know with this damn show. Folks be dying or turning on each other within a blink of an eye. I can see why some characters keep people at a distance. You can't make friends on this show 😆 so I can see why everyone is impressed by acts of kindness.

Anyway, that's my little rundown so far. I'll check back in when the seasons finish and give my complete opinion. 👋🏾

havent watched anime in what feels like forever. Nothing has really caught or held my attention as of late.

Got 5 shows on deck for the new season.

Re:Zero: Needs no introduction

Dandadan: I havent looked, but I FULLY expect @tripleaamin to have brought the upcoming show to y'alls attention. That and Sakamoto Days. I'll admit I've damn near lost hope in adaptations, but I'm still here for it.

SAOAlternative: Gun Gale: Pink Devil Bunny returns! :blessed: Man, I enjoyed the shyt out of the first season. The few responses to the eps in this thread were hype as hell. Gun busting, Head bussin, wig splitting, well thought out tactical battles. First season has one of my favorite moments in anime history.

Ura Rate Mahjong Touhai Roku: It's a show about Mahjongg. Im a sucker for those (Akagi, Saki). Sorta in the same vein as Akagi. The politics of the criminal underworld is heavily swayed by mahjongg games. Protagonist is a genius mahjongg player by night, and a student by day. It doesn't seem ANYWHERE NEAR as dark, cerebral and oppressive as Akagi, and it doesnt have the deadly serious whimsy as Saki. But I'm here to pay homage. Hopefully it'll be good.

Ranma 1/2: It's Ranma 1/2. I have no idea wether it's gonna be a hit or flop, but I'm here for it.

Other things I would add
  • Bleach & Shangri-La Frontier S2 will have the best action & fights. Very confident on SLF. Bleach I have not read the manga, but heard to expect more anime original content for Bleach from Kubo.
  • Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective will be back for S2 to finish part 1 of the manga. Those that enjoyed S1 will love S2.
  • Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance arc is one that really intrigues not having read the manga.
  • For romance enjoyers Blue Box, 365 Days to the Wedding & Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister all based on good manga and the staff for each one looks pretty good.
  • I have been posting about DanMachi as S5 comes soon.
  • I normally don't say read the manga, but read the manga for Blue Lock, the anime looks awful.
  • Trillion Game is a series written by the Dr. Stone author it is worth adding that point.
  • You Are Ms. Servant is being directed by the director who did both SummerTime Render and Komi. (Haven't read the manga, but the director is great himself.)
  • Still Monogatari is continuing is probably the best of the shows airing in the fall as it continues the Shinobumonogatari arc.

Looks like this series with the remake may be going with a full adaptation. The quality of the 1st season sublime, and it resembles the quality of the adaptations of other anime adaptations of Light Novels like Monogatari, 86 & DanMachi S4.

Will be looking forward to when S2 starts.

Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master ended. Tbh I am still stunned by how good this anime was. Especially the 2nd half of the season. Great visuals, outstanding direction, great writing, complex characters, amazing twists, etc.

I am honestly not sure between Frieren, this or Monogatari what would be my AOTY. Special company being with those two.

Big shout out to Koume. She was a much more complex character than I would have thought coming into the latter half of the show. That took some courage to go after her mother. Luckily, Wakamiya arrived when they did or things could have been worse. Her mother was truly awful. Manipulating her husband and putting so much people in danger due to her greed was beyond disgraceful. She's willing to kill her own family is even more sickening. You have to feel bad for Koume. Father is dead, and her mother was an awful person.

Wakamiya found himself in a familiar position that he was in earlier in the season when they faced off against the monkey. He chose not to kill the Yatagarasu, but Koume's mom took stabbed him. Luckily, it was a non-vital error, But the shock of it happening was just giant. Wakamiya has put himself in danger time and time again and tbh he had this feel of something who would always be fine. So to see him down was jaw dropping. I assume that Hamayuu casting blame onto Sumio mostly because he arrived late. She trusts Yukiya did everything to the best of his abilities. Of course, he didn't know that the true Kin'u couldn't harm another Yatagarasu, so it is difficult to blame Yukiya.

Man Koume's mom becomes increasingly sickening the more she is on-screen. She mentions how the monkeys stayed true to their word of helping her. Think about how many lives died because of her and the fact she has no ill thought of her actions makes her a fukking disgrace. The directing is sublime as usual. As Hamayuu discusses Wakamiya's duties as the true Kin'u we see a shot of a big and small frog. The big one symbolizing Wakamiya and the small frog symbolizing the Yatagarasu in general.

This show doesn't even stop being jaw dropping. As Wakamiya wakes up with Yukiya they travel to the border of Yamauchi we see the Ghost Fire. An amazing shot as the Ghost Fires from the Yamauchi view point appear as lights in modern cities was outstanding. It approaches even more so since Wakamiya was out sleep from his injury. Makes me wonder for Wakamiya when he says he would do whatever it takes to save even one Yatagarasu. Makes me look back at his injury at the moment when the raven was out of control. Yukiya & Koume were in danger, so the thought of letting Koume's mom free for a moment so that he can keep Yukiya & Koume safe. Perhaps also hoping Koume's mom would make a decision for the good of the Yatagarasu, but of course, we know what happened.

Alas, we end the show where Yukiya never chose his master. But we end him choosing to serve Wakamiya is a very nice touch. Yukiya found his path and his journey has been a blast. This show gets compared to Apothecary Diaries while him and Maomao differ in many ways. They both offer a big spark to each of their stories. This has been a phenomenal show and I pray that NHK, who is on the production committee (according to MAL) continue this series at the same quality as we got it.

I'm not entirely caught up, but it's shaping up to be a top-five of the year for me and could climb if it sticks the landing. Definitely a gem! I'd have slept on it if not for you suggesting it.

I read all of 365 Days to the Wedding and it's a 7.5/10 series. In competent hands the anime should be fine but it's not gonna be amazing. Same with Amagami Sisters. It's solid but I wouldn't call it special either. I'm on chapter 92 of that. They're both on the mid to upper tier of average romcoms.

They're about in-line with Roshidere but that has Yuki and neither has a character as funny as her. These aren't The Dangers in My Heart or Kaguya-Sama level series. I'd even put Tomo-Chan is a Girl above them.

DanMachi S5 Ep 20 is most likely through 4 seasons, the best episode it has had so far. As the focus of S4 has been on Ryu Lion, this episode culmination of her when she was pure. Then she fell into darkness and was saved twice.

It is very difficult to execute the emotional beats of characters that we know are going to die. Through the season we have been getting bits and bits of flashbacks of the Astrea Family. We had Alise who has a firm belief in justice, who clearly was someone Ryu looked up to. Kaguya who poked Ryu's sense of justice and questioned if she would do anything like how her and Bell are trapped on the deep floors. Lastly, you had Lyra and with how crafty she is.

Each of these 3's influence on Ryu has been easy to see throughout the 2nd half of S4. Seeing that really puts us in a great position to empathize with Ryu as she watches each one die. The pain that she is in resonates with us. :mjcry:

The darkness in Ryu's heart was very apparent. She parted with Goddess Astrea. In which she hunted down everyone who had a connection to Evilus. The ironic part of that was she became the very thing she hated. She succumbed to the very thing she hated. The sad part is the trap they fell into they survived. But it was an extreme phenomenon of the Dungeon that nobody could have planned for.

At the end of it all, she was about to give up on life, but that wasn't until Syr saved her. She was able to live a new life, but that all changed when she found out that Jura was alive. That source of hatred isn't someone that can magically go away and him being alive brought back those sad and dark memories.

Much to the quotes that Alise mentioned in the flashbacks, they end up foreshadowing Bell in many ways. While both Alise & Bell have many things in common. What Bell aspires to be as a hero is what Alise considers to be the hero. The interesting fact is despite what Ryu did when she fell into darkness. As long as Bell has seen she has been doing things for the Hestia Family and others that would be considered for good and for justice.

Outside of Hestia and to a lesser extent, Welf, the bond between with Ryu is the strongest that we have seen throughout this show so far. Aiz serves more as a model of what it means to be as an adventurer. Though his dynamic with her feels rather underwhelming so far. The other girls in the Hestia Family it feels even less. In many ways, for Bell, Ryu serves as a mentor, a model of what it means to be as an adventurer and a friend.

That....
Ossan...
Battle....

WOOOOOWW!!!

Broughston and Rick with a battle for the ages. That Rick skill scene was chef's kiss.

This and wistoria just turned the wick up, great character development and shyt...I was emotionally invested in the battle EVEN after seeing the outcome in the manga.

fukking tremendous. This is one I can watch again.

On episode 8 of Shangri-La Frontier and the big thing that gets mentioned is how Sunraku's experience in other games translates into SLF. Essentially, Pencilgon's introduction which uses Unite Rounds serves more of a purpose since it was their stealing was an optimal way of gaining resources. This episode does so in a very inconspicuous way because during the last enemy for the boss rush, most players wouldn't try to knock away or steal a mage's staff.

It ultimately shows that when this series focuses on other games, there is a purpose to it. Which you never get in other VR anime.

Finishing up my rewatch of DanMachi S4, and we get a great focus on Ryu as we know that given what happened to Alise & the Astrea Family as they tried died trying to protect her. That guilt is what she is so traumatized when facing off against Juggernaut. She couldn't kill the monster that killed her family. Now we come to a familiar situation as Bell not only saved her from death in the Colosseum, but went out to fight Juggernaut to protect Ryu.

Ryu basically not making the same mistake as her feelings for Bell are clearly as strong as they are for the Astrea Family with the only difference is it is more of the romantic type rather than the familial kind. Great display showing that each orb from Luminous Wind represented each member of the Astrea Family, which gives Ryu has some nice closure. Now that the name "Gale Wind" is dead, what does she do next?

While this moment gets overlooked, I really liked how it was Wiene and the Xenos that find Bell & Ryu to give them Marie's blood to heal. This is a callback from S3 where Wiene wanted to repay Bell in the future for helping her and the Xenos. While the reunion is cut short it only magnifies when they get the chance to meet again.

Truly is how ideally you want to have your Ln adaptations of anime, which we don't get often. Also, adding the fact that the series starts the anime as a poor adaptation. Righting the shift during S3. This perhaps gives some series with poor Ln adaptation a glimmer of hope that an adaptation can right the ship.

TBH Senpai is an Otokonoko anime ending honestly feels pretty solid even without knowing the context that a movie for its ending is coming. While I am unsure how to feel about Makoto's mom because was it just the shock of her dad crossdressing that traumatized her? I guess the idea of him going out like that and people making the connection she is her father. At the very least, she is finally spending time with Makoto as a parent for once, which is what Makoto wants. Maybe the next time Makoto visits his grandfather, his mother can come along.

Not too much on Saki's end, but her mom getting excited with Makoto and Saki having fun gives me good vibes. Still concerned if there is something Saki's grandmother is hiding.

Overall, I would give this an 8/10. Despite being a P9 anime, they did a decent job and the story was pretty good. Visually Alya, Makeine & Atri are on another level in terms of romance shows. Though Saki shines when they do chibis. These visual issues are more so glaring on more serious moments, like when Makoto was trying to talk to his mom. Will check out the film as It's really cool its getting a full adaptation. The big thing going into this show is that it discusses gender norms & crossdressing playing a major theme.
