Essential What Anime are you currently watching?

Just got current on Solo Leveling anime. It’s not good, highly derivative, and should be called Soulless Leveling. It’s like watching a 13 year olds summary of an anime instead of a watching an actual well thought out anime. If they were gonna adapt a manwha it should have been breaker.

I’m in the same boat, I just finished it and cant understand the hype it’s gotten. It’s like it’s designed for people who can’t follow a plot. I feel like it’s short bus, remedial people who love it. The animation and fights were good but not god tier. Am I missing something?

You aren't I promise y'all that is the entire show from beginning to end, they just got budget so nikkas acting like it's doing something different from other shows

I'm fine with saluting the studio for going crazy, but the actual story doesn't live up to the hype at ALL

Ignoring what I think of the adaptation.

The series is written very, very well. Honestly, once D joins the Green squad the story finds it's rhythm and doesn't let up imo. The very mystery of the series is probably its strongest aspect. As it adds more and more wrinkles. It really gets you thinking . Like you think you are on to something, but then you doubt yourself and here comes another wrinkle. I need to get back to reading it, put it on pause on 100 chapters.

Negi is a really talented writer. The fact he wrote this coming off The Quintessential Quintuplets solidifies that. Considering how different the genres of the two series are and both are done well.

It's like a Michael Bay movie. A lot of surface level entertainment, but not really that deep. Crazy how it won anime of the year over Frieren.

The writing in this show continues to impress

Spoiler: Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentōshō - Episode 10

This was a very clever way to incorporate the past and future of Jinya. Though here we now see Miura being quite fond of the Harlot. Though at first it appears that Miura's big brother was a figure in her life as well. Once we see Jinya cut the demon, it is clear that what the demon represented is feelings of regret. For the 3 of them, that demon from their respectively was someone they held dear to them.

Kind of funny we go into the future again and Jinya who was around, wasn't happy how the events were illustrated. Though learning various things like how Miura & Harlot get married. At the very least, it was in a way that Miura also moved on from his brother.
