Murata spend all those years redrawing and laying the blueprint for a top tier battle shonen acr to be animated and get the series back to the relevance it had after season 1....and somehow no studio worth a fukk was interested in it and it's been in developmental hell like it's BioWare game

I honestly have no clue how to explain the fumble of OPM. Mob Psycho (the other series from ONE) was a smaller IP and got a green light push by Studio Bones and had a classic run until it finished.

How did ONE let OPM get torched to death when not only did he had season 1 as a money maker but also Mob as another example of anime making bank for his creations

Well, it was part of the peak of Madhouse until they disbanded. Also, numerous freelancers worked on it. It was a 1 season thing and that's it. Thankfully, it is not the case of Frieren with Keiichirou Saitou back to direct it again.

Murata is literally killing the series on his own with those fukking redraws for the manga and the changes from the Web Comic. OPM manga is a joke now breh

ONE doesn't even touch the OPM manga anymore. Why would he care about the anime? You can tell if you compare the Web Comic to the manga nowadays. It is not an adaptation it is basically a different story. The tone is the biggest thing.



Also, OPM had hellish production schedules even under Madhouse. Which is why when it made its way to JC Staff the dropoff was noticeable. JC Staff is a very solid studio, but nobody could succeed under these conditions. S3 is gonna at best the level of S2 or worse.

Truly interested to see how Bones will handle the adaptation for Gachiakuta. Art direction I liked how the anime did things. Manga has a unique style, so I wonder how it does, but felt bones did a good job here. The next episode is really where I am interested in how the adaptation starts playing out.

Honestly surprised it didn't go with 2 episode premier since I felt that would have left a bigger impression. Since Rudo falling to the pits is really where the series actually starts.

Checked out "City the Animation" since it is being animated by the gods at KyoAni. The visuals and animation are beautiful and top-notch. Comedy is honesty more of a miss with its exaggerated comedy. The comedy seems more episodic which I am more meh about.

The tropiest of troupes with an off-putting character design to beat you over the head with the "this is fukked up, right?! " vibes.

I'll give it a couple of more episodes but this premiere gave no fukking reason to get behind the MC, get interested in the world or be compelled to follow this literal trash world. I hope there's something more than all the surface level stuff they showed

Finally checked the episode out man it's absurd af, but it still had me rolling at times.

Though it feels like a parody of a typical zombie apocalypse rather than suspense horror or anything like that.

ONE throwing the material to the bushes is one explanation that makes sense at least.

And yeah, I get Murata got too into his own shyt but the arc that should be season 3 has some ungodly art that would've made it a truly special shounen arc if animated correctly alas.
