Yeah, the show is not for you breh. The Momo/Okarun relationship is the main drive of the series, then you have the constant fukkery and THEN you have the plot. Both the fukkery and plot have very inventive action -and season 3 will have the absolute best the series has to offer in terms of actions, specially the 2nd half or "season 4"- but at the end of the day, they will always go back to the main couple and weird shyt happening to them.
I'm not seeing how it's supposed to be ranked higher that Kaijo no. 8 Tougen Anki/Gachiakuta, all of them are regular and predictable.

I jumped onto the manga to see if it got any better :mjlol: hardly, fukk I care about some 14 year olds relationship issues. The plot that finally started revealing itself wasn't worth the wait at all either. FLCL season 1 handled similar themes in 6 episodes and moved on with life. Okarun and Momo as MC's are weak as hell the more I think about it.

Breh I was all exited to see that trailer is the same one they showed like 3 months ago :dahell: :dahell: :francis:
I don't think I saw it, site just uploaded it the other day so I thought it was new.

It was created to adapt Mushoku Tensei. After S1, Shingo Fujii left the Mushoku Tensei staff to direct Oniichan wa Oshimai! for Studio Bind, and then now is directing on Ruri Rocks for Studio Bind too. Like Mushoku Tensei S1, both of these had almost 3 years in production, which is why they look so beautiful in both visuals and animation. But Studio Bind's focus hasn't been only on Mushoku Tensei since S1 ended.

I'd expect S3 to be at the S2 level in terms of visuals. Since production for MT S3 only started this summer and is rumored to air in spring. I am not sure why they are rushing production for MT, but it is safe to assume it will be another split cour.
I didn't say it was their only focus I said it was created to focus on that show above any of the other shows they have, similar to how Mappa did Hell's Paradise but it didn't look as good as the JJK/CSM's because it's lower on their priority list.

When a studio formally announces they're working on something =\= when they actually started, I was working on an animated movie for over a year before it got announced that production had "begun". Marketing has to already have some completed stuff before they feel comfortable announcing anything in my experience.

Considering all the shyt that's supposed to happen this season I have no doubts they started pulling people from other projects early to focus on this, as this will be the season they seriously evaluate if they gonna go the movie route with some of these moments or not + it should have more action cuts than the past 2 seasons combined

I mean, it's pretty evident that people do like the stuff you don't: Momo/Okarun relationship and the fukkery around them, and that's why Dandadan is more well regarded than the other shows :pachaha:

If cats ain't watching Dandadan for the budding romance between Momo/Okarun, they're doing Anime wrong.

Just fire up the last season of nonsensical Jujutsu Kaisen or run back Attack on Intelligence Titan again

They adapted the Moi Denim chapters in today's Witch Watch episode today :mjlol:
Man, the show fell off a cliff for me :francis: dropped it completely like 2 months ago, checked back today and nope...they started adding more characters and it was like they ran out of funny bits/gags :francis: the little kid/vampire was the last straw for me. It's like as soon as I hyped it up here, the downfall began :dead:

Oh yeah, if the comedy isn't hitting, then it should be dropped. As much I love the series and how well Kenta uses the comedy for build up for the more serious moments in the series. If the comedy isn't hitting, there really is no point in watching it since it is a Gag Comedy at its core.

Though it probably is the best romance in Jump after Dandadan. That aspect is very well done.

Tbh, let's say we cut out the romance and SoL stuff with the cast. (Which is literally the reason to watch and read the series)

The action stuff is still pretty solid. A lot like CSM, Dandadan uses show rather than tell regarding the characters and their abilities. I fukking hate shounen exposition, like I really start to detest it. Kind of why I love early JJK because it felt so much more concise than what it became later on. Though again, like others said, you are literally cutting out the main appeal of Dandadan if you cut out the Romance & SoL stuff

Gachikuta I like a lot, but I can't lie that it hits a lot of the generic bits. Though the power system is great and creative in execution. I do think Bones is hard carrying the anime, but I think there is enough to stick with it, unlike those other 2.

Kaiju 8 & Tougen Anki are like a full-on checklist of shounen tropes and all the generic stuff where it's like, Man, the author mailed it in. Why would I watch those when I can just watch Solo Leveling at that point? Even though Solo Leveling is very shounen in terms of writing, it feels different at least. Probably has to do with the fact that it is a Korean series. (Never though I would be advocating for Solo Leveling, but here I am doing that, I guess :skip: )

The creativity in Dandadan's fights make up for the fact of not having an engaging power system/scale. I also highly appreciate it but I can see why it's not for everyone, specially because there's very rarely any stakes on the fights and there's no real twists or surprises in them...which is the same thing you can say about Kaiju n.8 or Gachiakuta (haven't seen Anki).

If the weird shyt that happens in the show doesn't engage you, then there's not a lot else to keep someone's interest (outside of Momo/Okarun).

Outside of the 3 dark shounens (JJK, CSM & Hells Paradise). Most shounen nowadays don't really have stakes like that if you think about it. Like the characters who nearly die, you know aren't going to die. Which is very typical of shounen.

Kind of why I really like Shangri-La Frontier because it doesn't pretend there are stakes; it's just a dude playing games. Though it's more shyt like dying in the middle of the boss fight. Typical shyt when you game.

There's always Sakamoto Days, lulz
Sakamoto is another SoL show disguised as an action series :pachaha: imo your engagement will vary in how much you appreciate the fights and then the comedy. Personally I think the fights are bland as fukk for the most part -there are so really cool exceptions though- and the comedy is bleh.

I'd take everything on Dandadan over SD.

Oh I agree, but I feel that's what @T-K-G is looking for in a show where the main premise doesn't hit. Like a "well, what are you offering me then" type of thing.

Then again, I might completely off as it's not my opinion :pachaha:

Tbh after the first cour of the anime and after that part of the manga, it turns into a full-blown battle shounen. Like it stops pretending. Which I would say it does that better. But it drops the early SoL stuff and never comes back to it. The art and choreography of the fights in the manga are :wow:
