Essential What Anime are you currently watching?

Why do people like Yu Yu Hakusho so much? Is it more nostalgia than anything? I thought it was decent but nothing too spectacular. I guess it never had a total falloff like Bleach or Fairy Tail () but y'all really feel it's one of the GOATs?

And plus I never saw more than 3 episodes. It felt like I was watching something from the Robotech era.

With that said, Satoshi Mitzukami got a fukking anime series airing and I haven't seen hype or fanfare for it anywhere.

because it checks every box for a classic shounen and doesn't suffer from any of the crippling negatives like filler, drawn out battle arcs, bullshyt power ups and one dimensional characters. The fights are intense, the superpower designs are badass and fun, the villains are complex and have reasonable convictions for their beliefs and the animation holds up well today (not the aesthetic, but the actual animation. Several current industry greats got their start in YYH).

Main character isn't some weak little kid with no backbone who gets bullied and needs a power up to assert himself. Yusuke is the bully, and you get to watch him grow from a boy with no direction in his life to a man with full understanding of self and life aspirations. He's got one of the most rewarding character arcs in the genre. Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama and just about every character central to the story are well written too.

I'd be more interested in knowing why someone doesn't like YYH.

I like MHA. I really do.

But I'm kinda floored when people say its top anything. It's dramatic as hell and we'll animated - and it's getting better. But let it actually get there shyt ain't even happened yet.

Also Naruto is and always will be fukking trash. shyt is one notch above pokemon. @winb83 stop acting like Bleach stole your bytch bleach had some of the best fades and fukkery out during its time.

Also Franxx was trash as fukk too you watch that show for the absurdity not to validate their half-assed evangelion theft

At this point I'm just going to let them cook with this BLEACH blasphemy, logic ain't penetrating the emotional response.

I wasn't even going to speak on the MHA thing, different strokes I guess.

MHA is a great Shonen, I enjoy watching it weekly and it's satisfying. So entertaining don't even need to read the manga just wait for it yearly. Much better than Fairy Tail or 7 deadly sins. That being said it won't have me at it's core nostalgically like Bleach use to. Bleach was one of the first anime I picked up watching online consistently after TV blocks like Cartoon Network/Toonami started dying down. But after a point the franchise becomes such unprecedented trash Boku has to be better by default. Boku isn't HxH or One Piece but it gets the job done. It won't reach Naruto level of popularity/innovation but if it could be more consistent all the more power to it the series has the juice right now ​

Man, that show had me up until episode 20. The Evangelion influence was HEAVY but I liked it, it was like a much lighter version of it with a legit love story (or at least not a fukked up one).

And then the VIRM shyt happened and the show went became status. The whole story felt rushed from that point on and the investment I had the in characters decreased heavily, once the ending happened I was more like than anything else.

Trigger only produced up to ep 14. That’s why it became trash

Yu Yu Hakusho was good, however not great. In my opinon, it shyts on Fairy Tail and Bleach. It's probably the nostalgia why people like it so much. I ain't a Dragon Ball fan as I used to as a youngster but it's considered as the GOAT I don't know if it's because of Nostalgia.
