Season finally finished today. Here is how I put everything and some quick thoughts.
Made in Abyss S2 (Fantasy, Adventure) - If you are looking for quality anime this is a must watch. The only negative is that the scenes in this show hit HARD. Bring some tissues when watching this show.
Danmachi S4 (Fantasy, Coming of Age) - Danmachi did a lot of good things in S3, but it took some great steps in S4. It suffers from being underwatched due to earlier season pacing issues.
Ao Ashi (Sports) - Great characters, gives you a great understanding of soccer and a great romance build up. Only negative is that how it introduces soccer and some of the more advanced topics. But beyond it does everything else well.
Summertime Render(Thriller, Mystery) - I'm only 12 episode, but I am hooked. The best anime this season at hooking you in at the jump. Every episode feels intense and all the characters are great.
Lycoris Recoil (Action, Genre, SoL) - Probably one of the most enjoyable anime from this season. Early on its mostly SoL to build up the characters, but by the 2nd half of the season the action and drama intensifies and it is done great.
Call of the Night (Supernatural) - The show is right behind SxF as the two most entertaining anime I have seen this year. It is mostly a focus on the two leads, but there are lot of things that get introduced that could make a potential S2 one of the best.
Dr Stone Ryusui (Adventure, Sci-Fi) - The same usual quality you expect out of Dr. Stone. If you haven't watched the series yet it is a must watch. Some of the best world building you get in anime.
Shadows House S2 (Mystery, Thriller) - On the outside it looks like one of those cute anime, but in reality it is a great mystery anime. It is a lot more depressing than you would expect. I have heard comparisons to Promised Netherlands, but I never have watched it so I can't say much on that. Doesn't hook as well as STR if you want to make that comparison
Mobile Suit Gundam: Witch from Mercury Prolouge (Sci-fi, Mecha) - This was my first Gundam, so all I can say is that it drew me into the story and was pretty good. So hopefully good things are to come with the main story.
Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting (Childcare, SoL) - If you are into childcare and/or SoL anime this will probably be one of your favorites. If not you it is probably not for you.
Uncle from another World (Isekai, Comedy) - Legit one of the funniest anime from this year. Just watch the clip below.
Dragon Quest Adventures of Dai (Batttle Shounen) - If you are looking for a shounen this is a very safe bet. A predictable, but very fun series.
Overlord IV (Isekai, Fantasy, Power Trip) - At this point you know what to expect from Overlord. It is a good, but not great series and this season is no exception. Skipping the arc that will appear in the movie didn't seem to matter, tho that decision is still really weird.
My stepmom's daughter is my ex (Drama, Romance) - This is a very baity show. The title makes you think this is a trashy sibling rom-com. But it is much more of a wholesome drama-focused romance between ex's. It is not anything special in the genre, but if you are looking for a rom-com it is worth a shot.
Class of the Elite S2 (Drama) - One of the most frustrating anime to watch. The first arc was ok, but it was impossible to comprehend the rules of the game. The 2nd arc was atrocious in every department. Even for the actual game of this arc it was shown via slideshow. The 3rd arc was much better, but some of the writing decisions was very questionable. 4th and final arc of this season was fantastic. If this show had pacing like the last 2 arcs this would be one of the best from the season, if not the year.
Engage Kiss (Action, Romance, Drama) - The inconsistency of this show is very triggering. It has top tier action and animation. And when it focuses on the drama aspect of the lead, it delivers. But when it tries to be this funny rom-com, it might be one of the worst I have seen. And it ended on the downside of that inconsistency.
Harem Labyrinth (Iseaki, Ecchi) - The fact I finished this and called it mid is praise for the show is enough to say.
Devil is a Part Timer S2 (Reverse Isekai, Comedy) - Probably the most disappointing anime on this list. Production and animiation quality really dropped the ball here, but it's still possible for them to rebound next season.
RWBY (Action) - Medicore is the best way to put it. Shows contents felt like you need to watch the OG first when it was advertised as something to get people in the series. Very poorly done. You didn't for any of the characters in the show.
When will Ayumu Make his move? (Rom-com) - Literally a season of content with 0 character progression and developments, jokes fall flat consistency and the side characters are much better than the leads. It could have been redeemed if they dived deeper into Shogi. But it doesn't do that.
Top ten list now is
Spy x Family
Made in Abyss
Kaguya-Sama S3
Danmachi S4
Ao Ashi
Sumertime Render
Ya Boy Kongming!
Demon Slayer S2
Attack on Titan
Lycoris Recoil
Kinda weird ending for Call of the Night. On one hand I get going back to the romance/SOL part of the story but the past two episodes were so good this one felt kinda flat.
I thought it was fine. It showed the progression of the two leads from where they currently stand. It did resolve Kou's doubts from the previous episode. I guess resolving that would be more important then trying something new.
