That's all 70% of anime ever was. 10% of it is anime original and 20% of it is for works like Attack on Titan and Slime that are so popular the anime while still a commercial for the source actually does stand as a product itself.

For most anime series you're lucky if you get the full introduction to the source adapted in the 12 episodes you'll get for the series.

Some of this stuff like Spy X Family is picked up so early into its life there isn't much room for many more seasons because it'll catch up quick and be stuck for years.
That’s fine. It’s more so the issue of the quality being bad for the adaptation. If pacing and animation is garbage how exactly am I gonna be interested in the source.

It seems a lot of titles get an adaptation just cause. Some of the stuff doesn’t seem good or popular enough to warrant getting an anime when they do

Isekai and Fantasy LN especially, it’s like they just hand them out. Some of them are deserving but others? Nah, and a lot have half assed adaptations anyway

I was actually looking at light novels within the last 2 years to see if there was anything worth trying out.

DEAR GOD. I expected trash, but I found stuff that wouldn’t qualify as trash :scust:

Isekais is by far the worst. You read the synopsis you basically know everything that happens.

Isekais are top heavy, the best are really good but once you get past those there’s so much generic BS :mjlol:

There are some pretty solid romcoms in the last 2 years.
Gimai Seikatsu (not available officially in English but fan-translated to the current volume)

Also a pretty solid reverse harem

The problem is limiting it to the last 2 years makes it less likely for a series to have been released in English. Isekai as a gerne has become creatively bankrupt. Almost all the good ones are from the early days before it became super popular.
