Mikadono Sisters has been good. Enjoying New Saga even if it's pretty generic.

Tbh I find this season a bit overhyped in terms of what shows are getting attention. More specifically the 3 big cloverwork shows. Oddly enough Call of the Night has gotten 0 mention which has me puzzled. Also Dandadan & Hanako doing really well too as sequels.

Also continuing shows like Sword of the Demon Hunter, Anne Shirley & Witch Watch each are good with their own strengths depending what you are looking for.

There’s also some really well animated niche shows like City, Ruri Rocks &
With You and the Rain.

I like Gachiakuta dedicating full episodes to key side character introductions. Episode four introduced the headquarters which has a ton of personality, and some fan favorites in the support crew and Semiu who has one of my favorite charater designs. But it also puts some heavy focus on Riyo...who I wanted to mention because I got a bad impression of her initially. She felt too generic and the scissors got me back to the Akame Ga Kill comparison I've mentioned (I really think that's a more accurate comparison than the Anbu or generic government agencies since the Cleaners are more like mercenaries).

But Riyo grew on me after a few key moments. She starts generic but ends up being fairly unique in terms of the usual "crush girl" role. They don't call her the Reaper for nothing.

Anyway, it looks like my favorite character gets his true introduction next episode :banderas:

@LordDeathwatch @T-K-G @storyteller This is one to definitely keep your eyes.

It's an anime based on Rakugo, so it is a performing arts anime, but it plays out similar to that of a grounded Solo Sports anime. It's imo the best series running in Weekly Shounen Sunday, but writing-wise it feels better than something you would get from a Shounen series. Manga really has great build up and really executes it well with it too.

Not sure about the studio, but the director worked on Summertime Render, Komi & Meido-sama. So he seems good from the directing aspect. Though I do worry with him working on Witch Hat Atelier, which comes out next year too.

The VA selection for the trio seems on point.

Voice acting is gonna make or break this show considering it's basically the most important part of Rakugo and something the manga can't really convey in written form.

I liked the series but after the first big arc is resolved I really became bored at the same long drawn backstories for every story told and the samey formula (and honestly, I kinda hated the conclusion to that arc). It's one of those series were the anime could 100% make the source material easier to digest and more fun to follow. Even though I dropped the manga, I could 100% keep it up with the anime if the studio gives it a top level effort with the adaptation.

I think Sono Bisque Doll is by far the best animated show this season. I was not surprised learning a lot of the crew that did Bocchi the Rock worked on this season of Bisque because the level of detail and polish is hilariously high for a feel good romcom like this one :heh:

It's the same team that did Bocchi & Elusive Samurai.

With that being said, Lord of Mysteries is the best animated show by a large margin. They were working on it even before S1 of Solo Leveling was in production and it really shows. Now it is not worth watching unless you read the web novel and you be confufsed af.

In terms of pure animation, I would put City the Animation & Ruri Rocks. Former is being done by KyoAni, and as usual it is supremely animated at a high level Meanwhile, Ruri Rocks by Studio Bind animation and visuals are at the level of Mushoku Tensei S1. Not a big fan of both shows

Both Dress Up & KarouHana by CloverWorks are animated extremely well as you said, but the 3 shows above are another level in terms of visuals & animation.

I do agree regarding voice acting. Bigger concern is voice acting direction. The anime needs something like Monogatari, Call of the Night or Shoshimin Series in terms of directors that can nail the dialogue interactions.

My worry is if it is like Bunny Girl Senpai where even the series is well animated. How the dialouge is directed makes it feel boring during the more uninteresting arcs.

They are gonna do the next arc in the series as a film, it premieres in September.

Then the studio will probably focus on JJK's season 3 and THEN on Chainsawman Season 2. It's probably gonna be 2027-8 before you get to see it

I mean nothing is certain. JJK manga ended a long time ago, so there is no rush to get back to it. There is no real benefit to pumping manga sales sooner rather later.

It makes more sense for them to announce a CSM S2 after the movie ends in Japan. It would actually align with Yoshihara's schedule as early next year he should have Wistoria S2, CSM S2 could viably be Fall 2026 when you add the fact that the CSM movie has been in production since JJK S2 was airing & then most likely Black Clover anime comes back sometime in 2027. When you add how long the CSM movie has been in production along with the momentum the movie would provide it would be a giant miss for Mappa.

Imo JJK fans better hope that S3 comes after CSM S2. Otherwise, the production schedule will probably go through the same problems they had in the Shibuya arc where they had animators going from JJK S2 to working on the Reze movie. When you consider Mappa is more invested financially in CSM than JJK.

If looking for psychological horror, there is Made in Abyss, Madoka Magic & Re: Zero. Also Death Note, if you haven't seen that yet.

Some I haven't seen, but I've heard great stuff is Monster & Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Made In Abyss is not on Crunchyroll but I'll see if the others are.
