Man the direction of Call of the Night S2 continues to impress with today's episode :wow:

This episode adapted the rest of 77, chapters 78-81, & most of chapter 82.

  • This episode is more in line in terms of how it was in the manga. Nothing was skipped as it was only the flashback outside of the talk between Ko & Nazuna.
  • They did a great job at executing the scene of Kyouko breaking down in the clubroom; it had me crying for a bit. Big shout out to Miyuki Sawashiro here.
  • Man, from the point Kyouko gave her the dead lighter, it was so well done. The shift into darkness for what was to come, especially the focus on the father. Then the petals coming off the flower could be seen as symbolism for their family about to fall apart.
  • Then switching to red to represent the horror and danger of the situation Kyouko is in.
  • Love the transition of Kyouko taking her father's lighter and glasses, and after commenting on the glasses, it has her appearing in front of both Kou & Nazuna.
A truly fantastic episode.

Silent Witch anime's decision to cover 3 books in 13 episodes is continuing to bite it in the ass. There is a good amount of context where scenes are just changed because they are cut. On a technical aspect, the visuals, animation, & music are spectacular. But the messed-up pacing makes the characterization of characters like Casey give a different vibe than what they are in the novel.

The moments always deliver :wow:

I think the manga is on its final arc; it would be great for the anime to be able to fully adapt it.

This episode adapted chapters 17-19.

  • I like how they put the scene where the guy outside with the knife is right after Hikaru and Yoshiki spoke with Asako.
  • In terms of visuals, I really loved what they did when Hikaru & Yoshiki were talking about Hikaru being a cursed god and regarding Matsuura and her family.
  • Tanaka coming to Takeda's door, I think, is anime original? Don't see the scene in volume 4.
  • I really liked the focus, like in the manga when Tanaka looks at Yoshiki's arm and then the focus on his neck as he tells Yoshiki he reminds him of himself. Plus, they changed Tanaka calling the person on the phone rather than texting or emailing them.
  • Loved the direction for the final scene; they noticeably elevated the level of dread considering it was shown that Hikaru is now weaker at the beginning of the episode. Really awesome episode all around.

We are starting to dive more into the history of the village, which has me excited. Though it being called a cursed god is terrifying. This kind of leads to Matsuura's daughter suggesting going to Old Man Takeda since he knows more, supposedly.

As Yoshiki mentions, death is heavy. Of course, for him, losing the original Hikaru is tough, and getting over that is not easy. Matsuura dying obviously had a big impact on her family. Asako almost died as Hikaru didn't understand the difference between life and death for a human.

Of course, interestingly enough, Hikaru is more human as he is nowhere near as strong as he was before he gave that piece of himself to Yoshiki. Which leads to the final scene, which was directed so well, but Hikaru was able to stand against whatever that is. But the older lady came to help Yoshiki. Makes you wonder if Hikaru weakening himself is actually a good idea.

Also, Tanaka is keeping his eye on Yoshiki, clearly, and is mentioning that if Yoshiki is mixed. Though we can see his mark on his neck is similar to that Yoshiki has on his arm. Makes me wonder if Tanaka went through a similar situation in the past that Yoshiki is going through now, especially when he tells Yoshiki that he reminds him of himself.

2 of the big 3 waisted their 2 best villains Aizen and Orochimaru although Aizen got a nice cameo in the very end. The trade off is they strapped his ass to a chair and threw him in the closet the last 1/3 of the series. Orochimaru got off Scott free for his crimes though.

I can't comment on One Piece villains cause I haven't read or watched it since the time skip.
