What are some things that meant a lot to you over the past 15 years, that no longer matter?

Rap / Hip Hip also

It’s really a shame what has happened to the genre. Black empowerment is a thing of the past and anytime there is black positivity it gets suppressed.

Never idolize rappers, but Jay-Z, Nas are lame as fukk to me. Nas for one being on his high horse talking about he would never promote alcohol now here in 2025 he’s Hennessey’d out everywhere.

It’s just a shame that when you take a step back and look at the people you grew up watching are nothing more than highly paid puppets paid to push an agenda for the invisible puppet masters.

This.
I was such a fan from around 11 until around 30.
The amount of hip hop I consumed in Man Hours is up there, but nowadays I cant even stand the sight of a rapper.
Never imagined in a million years Id turn against something I loved.

As I got older and needed a more mature, serious message for Black folks out of rap given the challenges we face, but sadly dudes stayed poppin bottles and hoes, shooting and promoting anti Black Black criminality for decades on end, no Black power messaging, nothing speaking to the average Black person. So I left :camby:

Not caring about overall appearance is crazy :russ: Maybe you can say you don’t care about wearing labels and all that. That sounds better than what I’m imagining in my head. You can still worry about your appearance if you wear clothes and shyt from like Walmart or Primark or some shyt lol. I def buy what’s on the clearance rack now. And I’m a good shoe shopper so I’m getting the best that I can get for under 100 dollars. Call me outlet shawty.

I don’t care about sports as much as I used to. I get to talk to Carolina Panthers players a lot and I find myself saying shyt like “that’s a good kid right there” I can’t stan dudes who could be my son out here :russ:

I only talk to whoever reaches out to me. Went through my 20s-30s being the go to guy for people wanting money, rides, etc but once I moved away and got older, I was like that’s not helping me so I made myself less available. If you’re not my close family or friends I don’t give af.

Hammer was too early. We really should be looking up to him for doing what he did when he did it. People were busy hating though

Chasing women for gratification and the loss of valuable time allocated to the pursuit, making new friends, arguing with people just because you think your opinion actually matters in the grand scheme ,arguing with my baby mama because my relationship with my kids is solid and she can't fukk it up anymore. Quality of life isn't about the shyt you can consume,it's about the peace you acquire going through phases in your life. Don't be a young adult mentally for all of your life, evolve and embrace the wisdom that comes with aging and growing older.

Pan Africanism.
At one point of my life, I used to believe that if Black folks from all over the world were in unity, then things would change for the better. But seeing how many immigrants/tethers despise Black Americans, saying dumb shyt like we have no culture and we don’t know where we came from despite the fact they like cosplaying as us and trying their hardest to do a destiny swap, solidarity with those people has went out the window and it will never happen.

And another thing, I used to try to hold on to people that obviously didn’t want to be kept. And now, if they want to leave, I tell them to beat it. No need for the pointless arguments and conversations. Speaking of arguments, I don’t do that shyt anymore either. If we can’t sit and talk like adults and come to an understanding, then I don’t want nothing to do with it.

15 years ago, my babies were starting to walk, read and show their personalities. At that point, my life became them. I stopped going out. Stopped doing stupid shyt. Stopped caring about what other people thought and just focused on being the best father I could be. I kept my health up and a fitness routine, but a lot of the things I used to be so wrapped up in no longer mattered.

Stopped hanging out with friends because most of them revealed their true colors and fukk that.

Stopped trying to control the narrative about me. People can say or think what they want to as long as my kids and wife love me.

:yeshrug:

I still dress nice and care about my appearance because it makes me feel good to look good.
pretty much this to a T. my boys 1 and 3 still watch sports tho lil man into sports heavy.

And that right there is exactly why it doesn't matter to me anymore
Lol
I get it lol. I consider myself a pretty good shopper. I can find good stuff for decent prices and don’t have to spend a bunch of money. Other people just go to Walmart and buy what’s there. Example.. people are trying to get folk to wear them Avia shoes from Walmart. I’m never doing that… them shoes are 20 to 26 dollars. I can go to places to find Nikes, NB, or anything better for the same price or a little more. This is the best time ever where you can shop on a budget and still look nice. That wasn’t always the case.. believe me I remember them days :mjcry:

Exactly!
Yeah if something is above a certain price range, then I don't even bother. If I can find something else that fits what I want, at a cheaper price then I go with it. I just don't care anymore about the brands or anything like that. I'll rock basic jeans, an unbranded shirt and some basic unbranded shoes and call it a day.

Family....that ship has sailed
Sports don't have much interest now
Music other than a few artists I check for when they drop used to a real head but now very rarely listen to it a lot
Being outside or in tune with the block-been done
Debating or caring about what others think-mostly empty chatter
Post resonates with a breh esp these...:wow:
