I'd say it is a passion and something I have loved doing like few other things in a long time. I actually dabbled in it a bit as a hobby years ago (totally by accident which is another story) but what got me going big were two things:

1. At the time time there wasn't much variety in the market due to there typically being a few firms that made the same thing

2. I took a trip to Africa with my uncle who is from Ghana. I am not Ghanian directly but my aunt married a guy from the motherland. He was working on a agribusiness over there and I realized there were many opportunities for fermented food that were poorly industrialized if at all. Ghana has a lot of fermented products but almost all homemade. So I told him I would try to start something in the US to gauge viability and then hopefully transfer it to Ghana. Long story short, the business started doing well in the US and unfortunately the Ghanian economy and its currency, the cedi, tanked so I am doing my business here near Philly. I plan on going to Ghana or somewhere else in Africa or the Caribbean eventually though for international expansion

I have always wanted a manufacturing company anyway, I like the 'making' side of the economy so this has been a good experience. Even if I get tired or sell, I would probably manufacture something else in the future.

you making ginger beer nikka? lol. I just whipped up a batch last week. Delicious

What sites can I sign up for to mystery shop? And how does the job and pay work
Volition.com

They send you jobs by email or you can frequent the different sites for jobs you qualify for. Most of the jobs i did paid by paypal and they had a certain time of the month that they paid you. I haven't done mystery shopping in a couple of years tho

I paid cash for it as cash speaks the loudest and at that time my credit was ruined BUT I had quite a bit of cash from a settlement for wrongful termination that really was the catalyst for working for myself.

When people see cash? All hesitation goes out of the window as most people especially cac's finance a lot of business purchases...but a nikka with cash speaks the loudest. When I went to buy that yoga studio the owner was a white man who was frustrated because he didn't want to finance the selling of it...but when I showed up with 45K in cash.

You would have sworn I was his fukking best friend.

So I took the earnings from that work payout and also a Mission Tortilla route that I bought which was my very first business to make the purchase. Once my studio was popping I took a years worth of my earnings to buy my 2nd business which is a Vape shop.

Why Vape? Cacs LOVE it. THEY LOVE TO SMOKE. So I bought that business from a woman who wanted to sell it and raise her family...she asked to stay on board and just work the shop. I was cool with it and also retained two of her part time employees. If you are curious I RARELY ever see any black, Latino or Asian Vapers.

I don't go into the shop or the studio as one thing I learned...White People HATE to give a black man their money but they will GLADLY take yours...so I put White Faces in place of mine running my businesses.

I have a white manager for my yoga studio and she collects my rent from the trainers, keeps me abreast me of any problems, and keeps things running.

Use them as they would gladly use you but every time I go somewhere and buy nice things...these white folks always ask questions then we get this conversation.

Q - Hey what do you do for a living?

A - I own a business.

Q - Oh really? What kind?

A - I ain't tellin

Q - Oh why not I want to own a business too.

A - Well go online and research it.

End of Conversation.

What made you get into the yoga business? Yoga is the last thing on a black man's mind, us blacks don't do yoga. 15 trainers at $700/month is a nice ass come up

Auto Detail on weekends. Client based, and about 300 a weekend. Averaging 12 hrs of work. It's fun.

I also sublimate mugs and mousepads.

what was your initial investment?

Van, buffer, soap and all that?
