What are you mixed with? Instant c00n status?

Seems like an inappropriate question to ask a complete stranger. I find it usually comes after a compliment like "You are beautiful. Are you mixed?" Followed by "Yes you are!" As if you can't be attractive and be Black. I've even had people get angry for "lying" about being mixed.

Most people think I am Ethiopian but I don't "looked mixed" in my opinion. I have a medium skin tone with locs. I am clearly Black.

I don't consider myself mixed but my family does have Black, Irish and Scottish ancestry.

Most of the time but not always the case.

I don't think it's actually about being mixed. I think it's the implication that mixed people are more attractive. I find you attactive therefore you must be mixed.

do you get that question from blacks or non blacks?

mostly non black ppl ask me, but i notice non-american blacks ask me often.

When my hair is shorter, I get asked it all the time. I'm Guyanese & Portuguese so the answer would be yes. West Indian people will automatically infer I'm Guyanese though. I do look "exotic" though and being heavily tattooed throws people off as most Indians don't have full sleeves

Everyone. Mostly BP b/c those are the those I am around. Non-Blacks are usually like "I know a person who is xyz. You look like them. Are you xyz? "
