its that simple. people keep trying to spin it.

if i open up a coffee shop. and i me and the wife are working there alone. we decide to hire 4 young employees. and pay them $8/hr. so we no longer have to work there. we can now just collect checks.

well that means we need to downsize into 2 employees, or maybe we need to get off our hands and get back in the coffee shop. until we can find ways to bring in more income. if we do that, then and only then should we expand by adding one employee at a time that we can afford at a living wage. its real simple folks.

in essense a lot of big and small businesses have expanded using people's ultra low pay to do it. which is completely unfair to your workers. you're not creating REAL jobs. you're creating CHEAP LABOR jobs. thats not what we're trying to push here in the states ARE WE?

So tell people who are only qualified to work at a coffee shop to get a better job.

Your idea of a "REAL JOB" isnt as real as you think it is.

you do realize there was a time i use to get paid minimum wage(not a living wage) as a 18 year old doing data entry. "so get a better job." well i have a better job making more money now. and at the end of the day if i keep it 100 hunnit. most of my day is spent doing data entry. Sure they dont call it that. they call it something else. but at the end of the day the better tech becomes, the less you have to figure things out. these computers will figure things out for us. which is a good thing to some degree. but that means all we are good for is entering the data that the computers compute.

So when you say "get a better job" just know you aint doing that hot yourself on the job market. So how much should YOU actually make being a high end data entry clerk aka paper pusher? which most of us are. most of us are not in Sells.

Most of us are not creating products with our bare hands and our own ideas.

So how much should you REALLLLy make while you're over there clowning the guy on fries.

I'll bet you this. Your job sitting up under the AC is a lot less stressful than working at burger king for an 8 hour shift. Tell me i'm wrong

This. Conservatives will in one breath say work harder. Ok I'll work 40 hours a week (when in reality, good luck getting 40 hrs most times). Still struggling to pay rent, eat a healthy diet, random bills. They say well get a better job. Ok, i'll go to school which I won't be able to afford either but I'll still work hard and study. Now your money even more stretched. You depend on loans to make it easier. Interest rates and joblessness make that risky in this economy. Then they'll just say you should've picked a better major. Ok but many sectors of graduates are still affected by the economy. They also will want to cut social programs and have you live without proper healthcare the whole time you're trying to better yourself. It's always your fault. How dare you not be privileged

I don't understand the point of your argument.

The MW isn't meant to make you feel happy or fulfilled. Its literally a government red line against which they say, "hey this is illegal" ...that doesn't mean your job has to check off every economic category.

The infrastructure is relatively weak since all the presidents before Obama neglected it's development. People working 2 to 3 jobs just to make ends meet. College tuition is out of control. Cost of living is laughable.
