I still can't believe they didn't try to trade Melo before the deadline. They have no hope, even if he re-signed for some reason. They definitely woulda got a solid return for him; at least one first rounder.

Their best bet would probably be to let him walk and bottom out next year while trading Chandler and whoever else they can for picks. The East is still an abomination, so it might only take 2-3 years to be competitive again if they make the right moves (:mjlol:).

I'd like to note that it's D'Antoni's fault Stoudemire's knees are completely shot. Pringles ran him into the ground during that first season. Everyone knew Stoudemire needed to be on some type of minutes restriction and Pringles had him out there for almost 40 minutes a night. Then he turned around and did the same thing to Kobe last year. That guy's a criminal. :beli:

Melo could take a discount and have an average salary of $1 dollar, and the Knicks would still be way over the cap due to Bargnani, Amare, & Chandler making 10+ mill a year.

Nobody is talking about next year's cap, you fukking idiot. It's a given that next year is shot. There's no chance to compete, there. The worse they are next year, the better off they'll be long-term.

shyt, next year those guys are expiring... your'e laughing, because you don't understand sports. But next year amar'e is finally an asset. :dj2:

The only way things will ever change for this franchise is if Dolan gives up the team and that unfortunately is not happening anytime soon...

We will lose Melo because there is no reason for a player of his caliber to stay with a loser franchise going through a rebuilding phase...With the way taxes are in this city you can't even use money as an incentive to keep a player...They should have traded him before the deadline...

Next year should be full tank mode...

Asset for who?

Amare would already serve as good of a purpose as he can which is to clear NY's books

They are going to lose Melo, I think that shyt is in stone at this point. They own their draft pick next year, so if there's a year to tank it's then, after that they won't get a first rounder until 2017.

I dont think Melos going anywhere he runs that franchise he strikes me as a cat whos content making the most money he can and beign the man and putting up as many shots as he wants and his empty stats,i dont think hes the type who could handle beign a 2nd option just to win a title

Id be shocked if he takes less money and shots to try to win a ring

If melo resigns he's basically going to waste another year of his prime with the HOPE that they can land one Free agent in 2015

The difference is that the Lakers will undoubtedly bounce back from whatever perceived bad decsions, and still be in the mix somehow and perhaps even get deep in the playoffs.

The Knicks bad decisions are some shyt that happens and no one cares because you know why? That's all they do, its part of the organizations aura at this point.

The Knicks bad decisions are just their regular day to day operations breh. Right down to the fukking starting point guards off court life.

As a Knicks fan I would neg u for the ether but its 100% accurate. The nyk is the Nas of bball

Why is there a cap when it's proven that money doesn't = championships.
It's always teams that mismanage their cap space that complain about this :laff:

And don get it twisted homie. While teams who spend a lot can be awful(Nets, Knicks) The teams that WIN the championship are almost always top 10 in spending.
