shoulda done Melo, Felton, Shump for Blake and Collison at the deadline
Knicks are fukking dumb :camby:
I honestly doubt Clippers would do this. Blake is younger and still hasn't reached his ceiling and is able to help them win NOW, too. Melo on the other hand is a more lethal scorer but well into his prime and should start declining within 3 years right when Blake would enter his prime. Sure Adding Melo almost assures the the WC finals this year but no guarantee they win and the clock is ticking

Asset for who?

Amare would already serve as good of a purpose as he can which is to clear NY's books

Absolutely, his expiring deal is the greatest asset the Knicks have right now. For themselves, specifically. But, it also gives you a little flexibility if a player/team rift develops, and somebody else wants to unload a talent for an expiring deal.

You're on drugs if you think that deal was an option. How old are you? 13? 14?

Knicks are in a tough spot. They're not gonna make the playoffs, they don't own their pick this year and aren't going to be able to make any huge moves to make next year's team any better. Selling Melo on being bad ANOTHER year then bringing in some help in next years FA along with the 1st rounder is pretty rough.

I'm still baffled on why they gave away their first rounder in 16 for Bargnani. Awful move.

The Knicks really fukked themselves when they traded for Carmelo instead of just waiting for him to become a free agent. That's where there downfall started more so than the Amare contract. Because if it wasn't for him getting hurt I think he and Melo would have been able to co-exist somewhat for the team. And then them signing Tyson instead of holding that money and waiting for a Deron or CP3 to make the Melo Stat dynamic work hurt them even more. Who knows what they do from here but even if they sign Melo they are going to have to get creative in order to become a contender.

In terms of this season?

The Knicks should Sign J. Fredette. He is an explosive guard(relative to what they have currently) and could give them that Jeremy Lin syndrome.

Felton should be slowly moved out of the rotation(I say slowly because he's dealing with enough as is, no need to create a hostile situation where he kills himself).

Since they made NO moves to improve our season situation or future situation at the deadline...that's all they can do.

In the offseason?
Well...if Melo has ANY sense, and I thnk he does plus he's getting advice from some smart people, he'd leave. The Knicks SHOULD do everything they can to keep him, but he needs to leave.

W/ Melo leaving, there should be a complete necessity to retool and rebuild(Dolan: "What is this thing called rebuild"?)

The 2014-2015 seasons should be expected to be a dark period where we develop young talent (Develop Tim Hardaway, attempt to rehabilitate Iman Shumpert).

The Knicks should keep Stat & Bargnani since their contract are expiring. They should trade Chandler to a team that needs that last piece of the puzzle for young talent and/or picks

Both sides fukked themselves by overvaluing/overrating each other and not being about winning. Melo and Amare just wasn't a good mix. The team was at it's best when one or both was out. If they never make that trade then they have flexibility and they could've amnestied Amare. They both got what they wanted. Melo got the big stage and his money. NY got the big star. :yeshrug:
