What in THE HELL is ya'lls definition of comfortable... If you live in NY or something, Okay. Then I can understand the higher numbers. But if you have any financial sense and you live down south, a single, no kids income of 40-50K should be comfortable quite comfortable.
I make like 43K (fiance' makes like 47K and gets a 5k raise next month) and I don't have any worries.... The only reason I have debt (other than salliemae) is because I'm getting married in like a month and we've been spending money on stuff for that. But that will all be gone because we're not registering... we're doing a "wishing well" (cash) and we're having almost 300 people at the wedding.
All I have to pay are the normal bills like rent ($850), electric, cable/internet/phone, cell phone, insurance...
I'm paying off her engagement ring/wedding band (only have like $600 left so it will be paid off in two months)
I pay my student loans every month (like $200)... and I pay down my credit card debt every month, which once again will be paid off after the wedding, and I still have money left over to what I want. We went to Vegas for new year's, we're going to DR for our honeymoon, and I'm going to NY for Labor Day (Gotta see all my Guyanese folk at Juve!)... And going to probably two Giants games (ATL and Carolina)....
My girl just got a new car and my car is paid off, and we're planning on moving into a house within the next year (you can get a 4/5 bedroom 2700+ sqft for like 175K in the suburbs of ATL) ....
Oh yea.... and I still add to my 401K (6% match) and my investment account every month.
wtf are ya'll doing if you need 150K to live comfortably as a single person. My parents don't even break 250K on a consistent basis and they're living in a 5 bedroom house with 3 kids (the first 3 are grown now), my pops just got a hummer, my mom just got an Acura crossover, and they have 6 figures and counting saved up, they travel all the time, and they give 10% in tithes religiously
So what are ya'll doing with all this money?
