I love Long Beach.... nice little "beach" town. Valley Stream is cool too, would love to live there, right next Wal Mart and the mall :ahh:

With that being said, LI is my least favorite suburb of NYC.

This thread made me wanna bump that Rakim song reppin' LI :dj2:

Huntington is nice and port Jeff too. Near the water in general is. How much of long beach was left after sandy? I left about 4 months before she hit.

Long Island is straight if you're looking for something more laid back and/or to build a family.

Keep it in Nassau and in the black towns. Nassau is also very close to the Boroughs and has a decent density.

A friend of mine is from Uniondale and I started fukking with his barber so I was out there often. Pretty decent place. A lot of middle class Jamaicans.

Elmont is nice too, it's basically east Queens but technically is right outside the border so it's Long Island.

Hempstead and Westbury can get a bit slummy but it's cool.

Uniondale and Elmont I recommend.

Please don't associate Elmont with Queens. No way.

LB got hit hard by Sandy but it should be rebuilt by now, IIRC they had to rebuild the boardwalk from scratch :damn:

Suffolk 85%

Nassau 77%

And the most densely populated town, Hempstead, has half the population density of Staten Island. :comeon:
Keep in mind that Hispanic usually gets counted as white.

Also, you looked up the "Town of Hempstead" which is not the same thing as Hempstead proper. Hempstead proper is way more densely populated than Staten Island. Same thing with Long Beach.

LI is trash..simple as that I had to move out here about a year ago to get my shyt together and I can't wait later this year to move back to the boros

I'm in the suffolk county area and this shyt feels like I'm down south. A bunch of weirdos out here and its annoying walking into places with people looking like :dwillhuh:because your the only black person around.

The 1st month of me living here I pull up to where I live and i'm pulling out the keys to open the door, A car pulls up and a CAC with his family rolls down his windows and the guy cac says
CAC - "What are you just knocking on their door? You don't look like you live here. Do you rent or something?" :mjpls:

shyt caught me off guard like a motherfukker :what:

Me - "Mind your fukking business and get the fukk outta here, don't ever ask me no dumb shyt like that again fakkit"

CAC wife - :merchant: "We just wanted to say hello"

Then they sped off...How you just wanted to say "hello" asking me some bullshyt like that?

Only good thing I could take from LI is having your own living space and i guess low crime. But when you from the hood you know how to handle different situations and you get like a 6th sense for fukkery. You've pretty much seen it all so nothing here would shock me.

If you enjoy being the only black person at the bar then this is the place for you :camby:
There's your problem...Nassau is much better and generally not like that from my experience.
Long Island is garbage. Everything is overpriced, overhyped. People are morons who claim NYC but its just a suburb like any other. Most live in trash 3 bedroom houses that cost $500,000 :russ:

I live upstate so I've been there enough to form an opinion. Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens I love but it stops there. They should just break off and be their own state or sink into the ocean. We'd all be happy to wave goodbye :camby:
NYC is probably more overpriced, though.

Spent a lot of time in Brentwood(word to EPMD)

LI is def different than the City...a lot of space but not a lot to do.
Brentwood is deep in Long Island, Nassau county closer to the city is a lot different from somewhere like Brentwood.

Please don't associate Elmont with Queens. No way.
Breh, Elmont is hardly different from Cambria Heights.

No it isn't. I know when I'm in Long Island, anybody from the boroughs will tell you that you immediately feel that difference once you cross that border into nassau.
Yeah I can tell the difference right away but that's mostly because the street signs and traffic lights look different. Other than that, Elmont and Cambria Heights are pretty similar.

I grew up on the border of Queens and LI.....

In my opinion, it's the worst of both worlds. U get the worst of NYC (high stress, high cost of living, terrible weather, racist cops) with the worst of any generic ass suburb in the US (no culture/diversity, have to own a car to get anywhere, long commutes). Only people I know who stay there are folks with roots there (i.e. Jews/Italians) or people who are just too scared to leave. Living in NYC is bad enough...... living in LI is fukking pointless.

I agree with the high cost of living and terrible weather (I haven't really heard about the cops there) but I have to disagree about the lack of diversity , much of Nassau County is very diverse. Look at the demographics of Baldwin, for instance.
