LI sucks badly. Suffolk is racist as hell and has the nerve to be white trash and ghetto at the same time. I used to get shipped out there to my grandmothers for the summer. All we did was fish and go to church.

Long Island broads aint even that hot.
Yep lol

But I think Nassau is a lot better, there's more to do and it's very close to NYC.

I don't think I've ever seen a white person in Hempstead, except for at the courthouse or bus terminal.

The only reason Hempstead is considered suburbs is because it's in the shadow of NYC. But it definitely is urban, and it's on the list of most densely populated places in the country.

It actually used to be a part of Queens...and its funny...cause Queens used to be looked at as "suburbs" compared to places like BX as well.

nikkas in this thread went to Suffolk County and think the whole LI is like that...

Parts of Queens actually do look suburban to me. Also, there are more big apartment buildings in Hempstead than somewhere like Rosedale.

And yeah, you can't judge all of LI based on Suffolk. Suffolk is more spread out although it still has its hoods. Interesting fact though, Suffolk County has a higher per capita murder rate than NYC.

Queens
:udgoraw:

Come on dawg. U drive up Brookville Blvd past Merrick, one side is Elmont the other side is Laurelton. shyts look exactly the same. Elmont is East Laurelton to me

Laurelton and st. Albans don't look or feel nothing like Elmont. First of all laurelton and St. Albans are type hood, ain't nothing hood about elmont....I don't see the comparisons in here. Go tell a laurelton cat elmont is east laurelton and see what kind of reaction you get.

Elmont, valley stream, franklin square...now those towns all feel the same to me... completely different vibe from queens. Long island is long island, it's as simple as that.

The I in Team
I can offer a lot of insight in this thread, since I happen to be a nomad who lived in every borough and lived or stayed at Nassau and Suffolk county in Long Island (Hempstead, Freeport, massapequa, Gordon heights, medford, stony brook, bay shore to name a few).

For starters Long Island is extremely segregated. Then again most of NY is except for queens (Astoria Specificially). Long Island was built by white flight from the city. That's why the parkways have low bridges. There were designed that way by Robert Moses to keep the urban buses out. Also there are hoods throughout. Between the Indian reservations in Mastic, to bellport, Hempstead, and Wyandanch you definitely have nikkas who be about that life.

There are a lot of things I hate about Long Island. Lots of close minded people both black and white. I find a lot of brothers with that slave mentality and whites who only know about the world via Fox News. It lacks diversity too. I feel like every shop is Starbucks, target, sushi place, nail/spa/bagel/pizza shop and karate place.

The plus side are the incredible beaches and such. World class if you ask me. I feel like if you starting a family it's a good place to be. Between the parks, beaches, marinas, vineyards, amusement parks, ferrys and such there's alot to do with kids. For younger people I would stay away and just be in the city.
