"Mumble Rap" era is probably fake tho. But I don't listen to enough of the new rappers to know for sure. Migos get called mumble rap but they don't really mumble at all. If thats mumble rap than Kool G Rap and MOP made Lisp Rap...

I think it's real, just may not be a lot of the artists they try to peg mumble rappers.

Remember the Ringtone Rap era? I think that was worst than Mumble Rap.

Waaay worse. Thats why I can't shyt on the current music too much even if I'm not a fan. It was worse 10 years ago when I was young :flabbynsick:

A lot of early 30s dudes like me, try to claim the 90s when we were in elementary school and shyt. But our era actual wasn't great either...Chingy, Yin Yang Twins, Mims thats what was hot when I was in my college years. We had a deeper underground scene but thats it...

shiny suit influence was the source for all those songs with the easily recognizable, heavy basslines along with overly jiggy/flossed out appearances

The era were you had to really be able to rap or you were clowned if you touched the mic

The era where lyricism was prioritized

The era where what played on the radio was balanced

The era where people cared more about the craft than money

I agree with you on the shiny suit era. Besides Puff, Mase, and the Lox in one video, nobody wore those things. That rock star era was real tho. From Dipset, to Wayne, to the Shop Boys.

Even R. Kelly and Luda made a rock star song with Kid Rock:mjlol:

Little kids wearing tees from Old Navy and Target that said "Im a rockstar" on it:mjlol:
I swear the energy drink company followed too

The conscious rap era.

We never had one brehs. Outside of a few artists, we NEVER had a period where multiple artists were out there spittin conscious thought provoking raps as the main selling point

I didnt start messing with rap and hiphop till mid 90s though so maybe it existed beforehand idk.........like in the 80s or something....
