It's also important to note that the Spurs offense was almost perfectly set up to beat that Heat's defense. The Heat defense slipped a little that season but really it was still great defense, but their scheme was just a horrible matchup for the way the Spurs were moving the ball. Had the Heat played that style of defense against, say, the Thunder that year they probably sweep their way to a three-peat.

Matchups. Spurs ball movement was perfect against Miami's trapping defense

No one on the Heat really showed up either. Bron put up nice numbers but they were Kevin Love status: Empty
This

The Spurs offense was geared specifically towards the trapping shyt that Miami was making popular. The byproduct of their personal vendetta over the previous year was some unreal ball movement that seemingly exploited just about every team that they came across. Ironically, it was also the same reason that Carlisle's switch heavy defense gave the Spurs the most trouble out of anyone.

But yeah

Miami got their culo blasted. LBJ was fukking powerless. Spurs had a playbook dedicated to every man on the Heat roster. It was ugly.

They got THRASHED.

Silver said it best. San Antonio showed the world how beautiful the game can really be. Nothing was stopping San Antonio that year.

Ginobili turned back the clock

Patty mills going golden eye off the bench

Tony Parker was hurting the entire series too

Boris Diaw being the ultimate utility player

Kawhi showing the world how great he can really become

And there was nothing lebron could have done about it. San Antonio should have won in 4 as well but Parker and Duncan missed 4 straight free throws in game 2

good points, but with all that, they were a lecramp away from being down 0-2 in the series.

Now they coulda won 4 straight easily with how they played but miami had a chance to put them in a hole

Pop saw the weakness of our blitz heavy defense the year before and pretty much amped it x10.

Coming off 2 championships in a row, with the best player in the league and they got taken out in 5 games by the Spurs. I don't quite get how it happened so easily. My coli nba brehs please educate me.

:what:

I haven't read the thread yet so excuse me if someone already said it but what happened was the Spurs were pissed off and they came back the next season focused. Combine that with Wade bein hurt. That's why they lost.

Wade's knees were shot, Bosh disappeared, their role players got old and/or were Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole.

:yeshrug:

Wade and Bron played garbage defense that series, Wade and Bosh disappeared in that series aside from 1 game for Wade.

Bron got super passive Game 3 and 4, Spurs were on an insane level offensively remember they set some NBA Finals first half record for FG% and points. Game 4 was a blowout at the end of the 2nd Quarter.

it was literally LeBron vs Spurs ... funny how D. Wade wanna work harder to stay fit when Bron left they ass... dudes got lazy and were too used to depending on Bron..
Yep. And the funny thing is if you watch Heat games now Wade looks and plays better than he did during that last year LeBron was there. And its 2 years later....I think Wade got lazy with LeBron being there and started to believe his own pity too much.

But mentally I think they were tired of the pressure of going to the Finals every year...crazy but during the regular season that year you could tell they weren't enjoying playing basketball.

That aside I give more credit to the Spurs then blaming the Heat because the way San Antonio played no one would have beat them. They were playing perfect.

I dont believe any team in NBA HISTORY was beating the Spurs with how they shot the ball games 3-5. Even I was :mindblown: at how cut throat they were from 3
Patty fukking Mills was on some other shyt he was everywhere and couldn't miss a shot.
