what killed her was that she consistently bombed in all her live performances. She couldn't sing and even autotune couldn't save her. She had the teen fanbase for a bit but they grew up and moved on. She never transitioned her music with her "fanbase"

Ciara was a superstar at one point. She had an album that sold 2.7 million copies. She had #1 single ("Goodies") and two other singles that peaked at #2 ("1,2 Step" and "Oh"). At that time, Beyonce and Alicia Keys were the only female artists in Urban music topping that. Ciara came back in 2006 with her sophomore that sold 1.3 with a #1 single in "Promise" and a top 10 single in "Get Up".

Ciara's "fall off" is most likely due to her being more of teen sensation and not making that natural progression into maturity. By the time the third album came, a lot of her fanbase had moved on. Aaliyah's Aaliyah is an album that was successful in doing so. Beyonce's Dangerously In Love also succeded in establishing her with more grown up audiences.

It also didn't help matters when "Crunk" died out by the end of 2006. Ciara was dubbed the "Princess of Crunk" and was tagged a "Crunk & B" artist. She tried to escape that and to this day, it's a tag that still follows her.

I don't know,I think people underestimate the power of a black female fanbase....when Keisha Cole wuz poppin she wuznt tryna crossover but wuz doin multiplatinum numbers....people wonder why and how jcole, wale, lupe sellin like they do,they have black female fanbases for whatever reason....as long as a female rnb artist can make songs that connect with black female fanbases, and make them tfee like u one of they friends or make them wish they wuz ya friend u gon be alright:laff:....that Sponsor song wuz like the Single Ladies white people didn't know about, but her video wuz mysteriously banned from BET and she never followed up...her team coulda played that banning to her advantage if they made more noise about it...hoodrats mighta rallied around her cause:russ:

And Olivia wuz just plain wack,I don't think she ever had a chance really.

One thing I can't figure out is do a female rnb singers looks matter to women? Seems like if u pretty but come across coo and make sure u humble urself so not to seem arrogant they'll embrace u like in real life...u would think a relatable big black chick would be succesful but I don't see that?

"Promise" is not better than "Me, Myself, and I"

promise is the best and most innovate rnb single of this gen.
nobody in music has a record in this gen like promise.
only one that comes close is the price flange laced early mornings by marsha ambrosius.

even then that record was made and known it could be made because of the prince flange induced and produced promise.

tinashe' last little record was a move in that direction.

even then it was made as another.

let's go in the aaliyah/ciara direction of timbo/primise.
plus recent autotune black urban yanni made records.

nobody in female rnb is going to fukk with promise.
missy could write a record like it.
yet somebody producing amd mixing a record like promise to surpass it is highly unlikely. as even r.kelly's engineering could not even capture.
what was layed in remixing promise sonically.
promise is a one of a kind record in this gen.

she should do that love and hip hop shyt

Ciara is too big for that show. Besides the people that are execs or producers, most of the artists on that show had careers that never really took off aside from one or two hits and a gold album. A lot of them never even had that. None of them had careers of the caliber where Ciara's peaked.

I never was a big fan of Ciara... Girl can't carry a note to save her life... But she's probably the best rnb dancer I've seen in awhile.

This shyt shoulda been way bigger than it was. The wack video killed it I think. I didnt fukk with T-Pain at all but dude kinda won me over around this timeframe when he had this shyt and the young "Chopped n Skrewed" out here...
