In the history of your life no one they said was going to be top 5 has ever been top 5 in any sport besides LeBron. So are they wrong for making it up or you wrong for believing
Peyton Manning?
Kobe Bryant?
John Elway?

He doesn’t have Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross to make circus catches against mid College DBs anymore that’s what happened.

If you go back and watch that Bama/Clemson game in 2019, Trevor really didn’t do anything special, it was Clemson taking advantage of a weak side of Bama’s secondary and receivers making crazy plays, unlike Deshaun Watson who was basically Superman in the 2 title games he played in.

I always felt like the hype was a bit too much, he was getting that Elway/Luck “generational” label and I have yet to see it.
People put Josh Allen in the upper tier of current NFL QBs. Trever Lawrence has damn near the same stats. You look at all the QBs Lawrence is in the company of this season and most of them have a top 10 WR and/or TE that's upper tier of the NFL to throw it to. Some of them have multiple highly rated players.

Lawerence's best WR is Calvin Ridley rated 56th / 123 WR best Tight end is Evan Engram 15th / 72 TE
Jarred Goff has Amon-Ra St. Brown 9th / 123 WR
Tua Tagovailoa has Tyreek Hill 1st / 123 WR
Dak Prescott has CeeDee Lamb 6th / 123 WR
Brock Purdy has Brandon Aiyuk 2nd / 123 WR
Josh Allen has Stefon Diggs 20th / 123 WR
Patrick Mahomes has Travis Kelce 2nd / 72 TE
Matthew Stafford has Puka Nacua 7th / 123 WR

Outside of Mahomes and Allen all those guys have multiple coveted weapons in the top tier of the NFL to pass to. Mahomes is maybe a once in a generation level talent at QB.

I'm not saying Lawrence is a generational talent I'm just saying the jury is still out on him. In order to make his numbers compare to Daniel Jones you have to include his first season which was absolute garbage in comparison to the last 2. Last year was great and this year has been rougher considering injuries but he's still doing an acceptable job overall.

got this from another nfl messageboard about across era qb play ranking and comparison
I don't like that adjustment because it doesn't include context about how a player plays the game

I remember old heads mentioning to me about how they never thought too highly of Steve Young: that his stats looked clean, but it was because he was running a lot and taking a lot of sacks, so it preserved his completion percentage and interception stats.

The NFL is HARD

The league is a battle of attrition

He took a step last year. A big step and now it begins

This year has been tough for him but I like what he's made of

All that GOAT prospect shyt is hard to live up to especially when you have a fukkin coach kickin his own players at practice, hiring racist strength coaches and stickin his finger in chicks asses at the bar in broad day at restaurants :francis:

I'd say under the circumstances Trevor is doin alright

Elway seems to be probably THE most overrated QB of all-time.
I’ve said this for damn near a decade through just comparing him to his peers on a season to season basis.

I always thought he and McNab were similar but those numbers got McNab in front. Elway is around Eli Manning.

Say what you want, but Fields would be seen in a much higher light if he had the talent of some of these teams. The fact that it does matter the type of roster you have around you, look no further than Lawrence and Jones. Jones was a Pro Bowler as a rookie because his team was better, and Lawrence had Urban Meyer and not much talent. Flash Forward, Jones is fighting to be a starter and some casuals think Lawrence is top 7 :mjlol:

Wilson at least had what some say was a Super Bowl defense and he had the offensive and defensive rookies of the year, and he still sucks.

Trey Lance had a talented team, but got beat out by the last pick in the draft. We really never saw what he could do though because he got hurt and Purdy started winning games and he never got the opportunity again.

Fields had no offensive talent on the Bears until this season, and it’s still way behind a lot of teams. Defense got better after the trade for Montez Sweat, but Chicago fans know that the play calling has been abysmal with them giving up leads by playing it too safe on offense AND defense. Bears should be 8-6 right now because 3 of those losses were directly because of coaching (Denver, Detroit and Cleveland).

This is untrue. There was some talent but the only dudes trey was playing with that are here now was Aiyuk and Deebo. Aiyuk was in the doghouse back then and Kyle held him back.

So Trey got beat out By a guy who had significantly more talent around him. Also it’s not like Trey was bad, he got injured and the team soured in him. Played 4 games total. Hardly given an opportunity.

These other cats got plenty of opportunities

So we gonna act like he didnt come back from bein down 27-0 in a playoff game????

That means nothing at all to ya’ll????

:mindblown:

The Coli is undefeated!

:russ:

Brian Hoyer came back from down 28-3 in a Playoff game too

And I never said Trevor was trash, he’s absolutely a franchise QB, I just don’t think he’s generational

I literally said Trey never got a real chance because he got hurt. SF rolled with Brock because they were winning games with him last season. Hard to lose your job when you never lost a game (only losing in the playoffs due to an injury).

Aiyuk and Deebo are still more than Fields ever had (even now), plus the Bears defense gave over 25 or more points in like 14 straight games going back to last year (streak finally ended against Washington this season). Coaching has single-handedly cost the Bears 3 games this year (Denver, Detroit and Cleveland). They should be 9-6 instead of 6-9 and the convo would be different.

Elway had wack nikkas like Sammy Winder, Steve Sewell and Clarence Kay and was still dragging those teams to Super Bowls

What the hell you want him to do

He dragged those teams to SBs going up against loaded teams like the Giants and the 49ers that were loaded with Hall of Fame players

Name the Hall of Famers Elway had on his teams in the 80s
:heh:

The defense was dragging middling offenses to super bowls. We’ve had this convo before. The numbers back me.

The defense was not that good you have to give him credit

Also he didn't like the offense Dan Reeves put him in.

And he had other great players surrounding him on offense

NONE
