This is the exact kind of stupid thinking I'm referring to. To just assume he'd be back to 100% by then was a huge and needless leap of faith.

It's shortsighted to EXPECT and NEED him to turnaround in less than a year and power this team to a championship. And it borders on reckless with his health.

You're locked in with Rose for four MORE years after this. There was no need to rush here. You're getting Mirotic next year, which will be like picking up an nba starter for nothing, AND you could have added lottery talent.

It was foolish. The smart approach from a smart organization would have been to tell him to take the year off, and load up for bear for the coming years. Next year Deng is expiring and Boozer become more tradeable - and suddenly you have ASSETS around Rose and Rose's future.

It was stupid, and its already costing the franchise and anybody defending it either 1) doesn't understand how the nba works, or @) thinks this team has enough talent and doesn't understand how basketball works.
So they should have purposely lost games all season? Or are you suggesting they should have traded all assets for picks/younger talent?

Do you know what tanking is?

Play Teague and Butler, explore all boozer options, figure out if Deng is in your future plans, lose, get a high pick, and i'd have bought a pick in the second round last year.

Deal in reality.

There was no chance this team(coming off b2b #1 seeds), with Thibs as the coach, was going to tank. It just wasnt going to happen.

Beyond that, would missing the playoffs, and moving up 7 or 8 draft spots (in a really, really bad draft) really be worth missing the chance that Rose would return as projected, and find his groove before the playoffs? Not to mention, financially, it would be stupid as hell.

The only way tanking makes sense is if they completely tore this team apart in the off season and moved whatever assets they have.

Yes. Because the assumption that he'd come back and be 100% and lead this team to a potential title run with a team that's talent deficient compared to other contenders.... is fukking stupid.

And the situation has already proved that I'm right. You're defending an idea that was PROVEN wrong. :deadmanny:

Well obviously everything looks gravy at this point in the season for what you're proposing. I was talking in hypothetics from the outlook prior to the season.

I still dont think shamelessly tanking to move up 7 draft slots in a terrible draft would really have made me happy as a fan, or changed the trajectory of this team.

Even where we stand now, I enjoyed watching the team fight all season, and will enjoy whatever playoff run they can put together.
