Rucker is infrastructure though. There’s organizers and coaches and you have to have a name to play there. It’s funded by NYC Parks and companies like Hot 97 and Nike.
Those were organized street ball tournaments with guys who were pros and kids in the pro/college pipeline.
.
This is also true just like AAU. Even pro coaches, agents and shoe companies would be out there. Crazy money is pumped in rucker and AAU.
all the suits & entities represented are not there for player development
they come through to use the amateur talent as the best free promo on the planet
that money doesn't reach the players beyond the free gear they give out
it's a whole generations deep argument about how the grassroots prep scene is ruining the development of players
aau & the camps the summer tournament scene is great for the shoe companies the schools & teams the shoe companies have their hooks in & it's great entertainment for us who love hoops
it ain't about player development at all
