I'd take the new generation of rappers now over the abomination of rappers in the mainstream from 05-07. Those TRULY were dark ages for Hip Hop, the minstrel c00ning sensation that came from the south and swept up damn near everything in its path was downright depressing. I remember hearing cars blasting Crank Dat like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread:snoop: truly truly horrible times...

i dont know what type of rock yall were living under in '05-06 but there was lots of dope chit droppin. a good amount of it even got mainstream shine.

much better than this kdot/drake/j.cole/krit stuff yall trying to gas up in this thread.

mixtape stuff was still kinda hot in mid 00's. Dipset was still pretty popular and Kanye was blowin up. Jay retired and came back.

Can't say it sucked. wasn't the best.

This era just sucks.

Even # wise.

Taylor Swift is completely blowin NEW rap artists out the water.

and they supposed to be fresher.

Lables just too lazy and cheap to be investing in what they should be investing in.

Bad investments and u have to rely on sponshorships and not record sales.

Their fault :manny:

I don't care though i ain't drivin no damn ferrari's. F*ck if i care if they lose it for?

True talent isn't recognized, valued or respected in most cases.

It's like there's this negative stigma that goes along with being able to rap well.

This^^^^ Thats why i didnt get what all the hate was about in the slaughterhouse thread. Sure their beats suck but those are 4 really gppd rappers in that group but these cats on here said theyre corny:what:?

Without a doubt the worst thing about this era is the sw@g f@g fans. 80% of this board basically...and whats crazy is this is the hip hop heads(no matter how above it you try to act you are a head, otherwise you wouldn't have gone out of your way to register here)...& its even worst among the casual fans.

Dudes are so desperate to be in the in crowd they will sh!t on a dope Saigon album but co sign trash like Chief Keef purely because thats the in thing:sitdown: Thats highschool girl sh!t man

they are very corny and make very bad music. when theyre together at least.

the beats are far from being the only problem with them.

My only issue with the new Gen is that it all seems like lifestyle talk for the most part. It's hard to find some genuine emotion from a lot of these new guys with a couple of exceptions such as Krit or Kendrick. I do feel that hip hop is waaaay better as a whole than it was around 2004-2008.

question for some of you that think that these industry plant rappers are the faces of the new generation:

how many of you live in and/or frequent cities with actual hip-hop scenes? and how many of you are actually up on whats going on?

not trying to get disrespectful or anything. there just seems to be a social gap with alot of people in this thread, which ultimately makes this discussion pointless. its like people are having 2 different sets of conversations in here.

wow terrible post

I can literally pick a random album from that time that would be considered album of the year if released in 2012

lemme show you:

Mist Don't Play
Word of Mouf
The Realness
Blackt Trash
Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz

...and those weren't even the best albums in that period :beli:

Again your proving my point those albums you listed outside of Black Trash and and the Realness were above average borderline good albums. None of those albums were the respective rapper's/groups best work. I really meant just 2001, 02 was a great year.

Cmon dawg. You know the deal wit these :flabbynsick: Coli types. These old azz nikkas rather listen to some washed up 90s rapper talk about the time he had ice cream wit Pac then take a chance and listen to a mixtape.

:ooh: OR MAYBE NAS/JAY-Z :ooh:
