If ur talkin biological... then ur talkin what any man wants regardless of race... but if u were talkin the "wants" strictly pertaining to black american men.
1st, seperate the typical nikkaz from real black men. (i feel negs coming)
The black man, imo, wants to be treated as an equal to others. Have the same opportunities as others, be judged as others would be judged. For the most part be left alone to persue what any other man is free to persue in this country, happiness (which is different for each man).
For me personally the happiness i would persue, is finacial flexibility. The freedom to be where i want to be, and do what I want to do at any given time.
Making sure my family are on the path to persue what makes them happy.
Having the freedom to be with whichever woman i want to be with at the time.
:jbhmm: i think that's it
:obama:
"Those Black men who understand the tenuous nature if physical fulfillment often look to the intangible experiences such as justice, freedom, equality, and acceptance by other people. Black men and women believe the intangible experiences will solve all the challenges we face in life. Whom do we want to be equal to? Accepted by? Most important, why? We have been taught to define ourselves, seek and limit ourselves within the confines of a physical realm that is ever changing."

Thank you for your answer. The biggest thing I took from it was freedom and joy. Happiness is a fleeting feeling but joy stays with you throughout your different circumstances.

Most of you basically said:
Autonomy, which is power over oneself and freedom from external control or influence

The funny thing is I am actually talking about happiness, not joy...
Meaning there was a reason why I said happiness. Joy, to me, is an emotion thats inside ur heart that pretty much has nothing to do wit tangible things.
Happiness and contentment, to me, are like words that can change due to situation... like being uncomfortable.
Like joy cant be takin away unless u give it up. Happiness can.
Im talkin semantics here, smh...lol
Anyway, im trying to achieve happiness because ive already have joy.
And to ur above quote... There are steps to achieving happiness, some are personal.... but all start wit the natural rights that are just basic...
Being treated as an equal to any other Man walking the face of this planet is basic. If you have not achieve that, u will never achieve full happiness, contentment...whatever... u might have joy tho lol.
Example... black ppl were slaves at 1 time... 3rd generation slaves didnt know 1st hand what the hell true freedom was... they were born into slavery. they probly had joy in there everyday lives...
But couldnt know true happiness because they could see men, just like them, who had freedoms to come and go, and speak as they pleased.
We need to achieve full equality socially, politically, etc...YES, in comparison to others. To even begin to taste true happiness as an American black man.
(sorry this was long)

As a young breh, I just want a successful career in my field. Providing for my family and myself would give me so much joy. I would also love to meet a beautiful black woman to love and have a family with. Plus good health, fortune, and peace of mind as well.

This is the dream that Im working towards!
:blessed:
