Scarification pre-dates the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and has never been limited to women.

It’s how people knew which people you were from.

I wouldn’t do it to my child. Im not a fan of marking children with permanent body modifications, that also includes earrings.

There is no such thing as african selling africans....thats like saying europeans killed europeans for centuries with diffrent wars....but they give the europeans more nuance by giving them nationalities and background....everybody understand france and germany aint the same....but somehow want to say all africans are the same when africa is the most diverse continent on the planet.

There were alot of conflicts and prisoners of war sold.

In many cases, you were given a choice to renounce your clan/tribe and join the group who conquered your group, or become a slave. In that culture a slave could earn his way into becoming a son in law of the slave master with good behavior and honest work and trust, or even earn freedom. Many who did opt for slavery were also sold to Europeans, but slavery in America was not like slavery in Africa, or even ancient Rome. Very little option to get out of slavery America's case. Slavery was wrong, but I assume everyone thought it was the same brand/flexibility that occured in Africa and mediterranean.

Tribes captured and sold other tribes

they didnt look at each other as anything other than allies or enemies. there was no panafricanism or some shyt back then
Yeah, but regardless... when you are selling people to a foreign country who are then going across the globe... you don't control what's happening to them.

It was still an inhumane practice. Also, wasn't the Arab slave trade horrific back then? They used to castrate black African slaves

They still have the same mentality and there is no panafricanism today. Still engaging in the same behavior of selling each other out and relying on outsiders to do a lot of the critical work they should be doing.

I, for one, welcome our new space overlords.
It's a lie that has been told and repeated for generation after generation until enough people believed it.

The people who deny itinitating slavery are also the people who committed the Tulsa Massaccre and never want to talk about it.

What does your everyday life tell you? The white man loves you dearly and would never do such a thing?
Man, the common man is so gullible.

These societies had some knowledge of each other's practices. America was a brand new country, it was probably assumed they went with the status quo, but the US went a whole other direction with slavery.
