This is for all yall,

How'd you get into this?

It was actually a lick that got me started let me explain.

My best friend was already working for a oil and gas company as a buyer. He basically saw an opportunity with a certain component he was buying in bulk every month. So he cut a deal with a machinist who could make these parts then brought me in the mix because he knew I could run the shop day to day operations top to bottom. So me and him put the cash up to rent out a small office space that had a lil garage area where we could set up the 2 machines needed to make these parts. He would send our shop the purchase orders to make the parts in turn we would make them , ship them to his job and invoice them. This lasted for a year and a half and the money was great until this nikka get fired on some whole other shyt and blow the whole lick smh. So at this point we had to close up shop cus there was no way we could continue operations without him blowing his cover.

At this point I had to do something, I had been watching how he moved so I made a resume specifically for procurement jobs and within a month I landed my first gig which was a 1 year contract. I’ve always been the type where when I walk into a position my goal is to learn my job and my bosses job and that’s exactly what I did. From there I landed a gig at a big oil and gas company. I interviewed with a brotha hit a few years older than me that basically liked my style and took me under his wing and it’s been up from there. It helped that I had an education and learn fast.

Just working in the industry for a long time. I started off working Human Resources then moved into an environmental permitting role which exposed me to a lot of engineers. From there it was just picking there brains and learning all I could cause I wanted to make more money. Then my current position opened up. I applied as a long shot and the company took a shot on me. Mostly because of my company policy knowledge. I didn't have any formal engineering education other then working in the industry and the training I've received. It's like anything. If you're around it long enough you figure it out. I'm not an expert but it's not as difficult as one would think. I have more knowledge and am more advanced then a lot of the college kids that come in with there degrees. I've always been pretty good at math, so that helps.

Operations Client Specialist but should be more like resources/product knowledge expert

My "clients" are Financial Advisors and I remind them how to do their job/trade. Sounds more pretentious then it really is. I have no background in finance, I was hired because I can read and have a degree.
