Cube is a GOAT I think OP should've asked why Cube isn't a consensus Top 5 OAT
Everything else on that album just doesn't compare to the brilliance of these 4, mostly because of production.

How is it false? Cube has never rapped over a beat like Nas is Like or The World is Yours. Cube doesn't have nikkas freestyling over his beats decades later like Nas does. People are flipping Nas beats and making hits out of them today. Cube doesn't have an album with production as good as Illmatic, an album that had the who's-who of East Coast producers at their peaks. I don't even think Cube has an album with better production than It Was Written or Lost Tapes especially running these shyts back in 2016.
Voice is subjective I disagree and lyrically Nas is atleast a tier above Cube. Cube's strength was content and storytelling he was not seeing no Nas and a bunch of others lyrically. His schemes and vocab was basic AF.
How does Cube have the better body of work? Cube has two classics, three aight albums, and everything else is forgettable to.
Nas has at least two classics, arguably three and has way more critically acclaimed albums.

Those albums are just aight, I actually liked Raw Footage. None of them shyts is better than Nas' second tier of albums. So you gonna tell me Raw Footage is a better album than God's Son? Like, you really think The Predator is a better album than Stillmatic. All that shyt is forgettable nobody talks about any Cube album post-Lethal Injection.
Bu bu Cube is a different type of MC. Stop it he couldn't rhyme like Nas, Jay, Pac, Biggie and a lot of other nikkas who get thrown in the convo, his shyt was basic scheme, word play, and vocab wise and I acknowledged his strengths and that's that. Chuck D wasn't better than G Rap and Cube ain't better than Nas. But bu Cube would eat Nas on the mic yet this nikka got ethered by Common.
Illmatic doesn't do it for YOU, it sure did it for all the other rappers who studied it and name it as one of their favorite albums as well as millions of hip hop fans. How you listen to a record like One Love or It Ain't Hard To Tell and say it lacks soul is beyond me.

My top 5 is too crowded as it is. I've got like seven rappers I cycle into my top 5 depending on the day.
as for the topic Cube is a top 5(hes in mine) easily but I think thats where it stops. But i can see a argument for him being a GOAT but I think Jay, Nas, Face, Pac , and some others have much better arguments due to their longevity of quailty albums, amazing highs, and/or rapping skills,etc

He got REALLY corny around the Westside Connection/We be Clubbin/YEAHHIE YEAHHIE era.I think that definitely hurt his legacy. Some of those later albums are unadulterated trash.
