If you wanna compare popularity Predator sold more so this argument doesn't matter at all. Unless IWW went more than 6x platinum.

You really think IWW > Death Certificate? Your whole perspective is warped in that case.
Predator didn't go 6x platinum.

You might wanna check that again man. It did. RIAA standard as well.

:mjlol: giving Peace a 7 let alone you gave it a higher score than War!!

I know the consensus argues for disc 1's superiority but I think the big songs on disc 2 give it that edge. It might be slightly less consistent but idk. Either way, they average out to like a 6.5, however you wanna play around with it.

The only other rappers who were just as ruthless in their primes are Ghostface Killah (who had a longer period of success) and Redman.

no the hell he didn't.

wutang fans and their delusion.

I got cube number 4 all time

LOL

me too.

Quality dropped off too much after Lethal Injection, could even say that Lethal Injection isn't that good compared to the first 3 albums

Most of the other people in contention for greatest at least had better longevity

if youre talking about guys that came after him, they were playing in a different game.

most of those albums that dudes like jay-z & nas dropped would've ruined their careers, if they dropped in cube's day. not just their bad ones. I'm talking about most of their good ones too.

longevity means nothing anymore. its all politics now.

@mobbinfms just double checked and I swear the numbers have changed wtf
:ohhh:

Not gonna lie when I checked wiki yesterday it said 6x and then like 3x each for AMW and DC and that shocked me because that's not what I expected. But I looked now and it's gone back to 2x for Predator.

iirc I think it was written sold better than both the albums you mentioned but regardless of that I purposely named 3 different major rappers from 3 different regions (south, midwest, west) to illustrate the impact that it has today. I don't hear the same sort of praise for ice cube from rappers that came out within the last 10 years.

And yes I do think iww was a much better album lyrically than death certificate especially with the rhyme schemes and story telling.

East Cost lyricism. Mostly Big D Kane, KRS, and Rakim. Not to mention LL was a better rapper. Cube was just the first to commercially not give a fukk. You can say he is the GOAT Gangster Rapper, but not the greatest lyricist.

If it's 2x plat I think Predator and IWW are on equal footing, I have no idea how 6x plat showed up on the wiki page yesterday but it has changed now.

Ironically Nas himself cited Death Certificate as one of his greatest influences. Kendrick has spoken about it, I'm pretty sure Game has as well.

And Death Certificate transcends hip-hop, so its impact resonates with what is happening in the world today. Nas' album meanwhile may be praised for its lyricism, but all it is is an inferior attempt to replicate the sort of subgenre G Rap started and Raekwon ran with.

yeah not denying that but wtf I swear it said differently yesterday. Someone must have been playing with the numbers.
:mjlol:

But this is what I don't understand. How often do they re-check the album sales numbers.

Cube's album went plat (DC) like 2 months or so after release maybe even sooner. Am I supposed to believe that in 25 years since then it didn't sell another 1 mil? Or is that not how it works? You probably understand it better than I do.
