He's definitely top 5. Best rapper from the west. I think his later work can be excused considering what he was giving us up until 94. It wasn't even like his later work was wack but it just wasn't on the level of his earlier work

Cube has a better voice/delivery. You wanna give Nas the slightest edge in lyricism that's cool. Cube has a better body of work, making him the better MC overall. Nas is rapping at a higher level now, I don't question that.
Nas is a way better vocalist than cube. not even close.
99% of albums sell 99% of whatever they sell during the particular albums "run".yeah not denying that but wtf I swear it said differently yesterday. Someone must have been playing with the numbers.
But this is what I don't understand. How often do they re-check the album sales numbers.
Cube's album went plat (DC) like 2 months or so after release maybe even sooner. Am I supposed to believe that in 25 years since then it didn't sell another 1 mil? Or is that not how it works? You probably understand it better than I do.

Certification for platinum status has to be requested and an audit has to be paid for.
Soundscan, to my understanding, tracks album sales, but the RIAA does not rely entirely on Soundscan.
I believe that a label is watching the sales on Soundscan and requests and pays for the RIAA audit when they see that an album has crossed the sales threshold. The problem is, is there a financial incentive for labels to pay for certification on a decade old album? Is it really gonna increase sales enough to justify the cost? Who knows.
Also, when an album is certified gold, that could mean it sold 500,000 or 950,000.
