Made Myself A Boss
#Trolltruck
DMX wouldn't sell in this generation. All that barking and shyt woulda made people nervous
No they weren't
I was actually alive and aware back then ... I need to see proof of this ...
So was I. How were you into rap in the late 80's, early 90's and didn't notice people clowning the fukk out of how De La dressed and looked? They would get routinely tested on tour because people assumed they were soft from how they dressed and acted. They spoke about this on Sway earlier this week, on Vlad TV, when Maseo was at the Red Bull Music Academy, etc....damn near every interview they've ever done.

You sure you was around back then?
Fred.
Haha, I heard De La Soul was goons on tour though, fighting everynight
Ok nikkas dressing weird ain't a norm today either...Both of them were clowned relentlessly for that shyt. Andre to the point that he had to address it on "Return Of The G".
It wasn't the norm at all.
Nowadays a rapper can come out wearing women's blouses or jeggings and nobody bats an eye.
Fred.

Young Thug gets made fun of all the time, Rocky wore that long ass tank top and heard about it for years. Stop acting like shyt is sweet and normal nowadays.
Irrelevant shyt and you miss the point to emphasize your 90's agenda as always.I didn't say it was the norm now, I said it wasn't back then. Now it's accepted 100x more though. Them dudes get made fun of and are unrepentant about how they dress. They ain't trying to clear shyt up like Andre did. People like Young Thug feed into the gay shyt.
Wayne had on leopard print women's pants, for fukk sake, when he was the most popular rapper in the world. Hands down. It would be like if Snoop came out wearing a woman's dress in his Death Row run.

And that ain't even getting into other celebrities like Jaden Smith wearing skirts to school. Like I said, the shyt that was fringe and weird in the 90's is accepted now. You picked the two most eccentric, "out there" rappers fashion-wise to make a point.
@gator_king actually hit the nail on the head, the "regular" rappers back then would be considered weird now.
Fred.

Kid Cudi is a weirdo and crucified as one in present day. Why does he have to address it, it doesn't matter. Young Thug hasn't addressed it through song like Andre 3000 but in interviews he's said I don't give a fukk what you think, I'm a rock star and I've been dressing like this for years.
Weird then is weird now. Who are these "regular rappers" who'd be seen as weird now stop.
Young Thug doesn't represent the entire rap game. It's only a small minority of weirdos now just like then.
