I would say

Nas - Illmatic, It Was Written, Lost Tapes, Life is Good, God's Son, Hip-Hop is Dead, Does Queensbridge: The Album count?
Cube - Straight Outta Compton, Death Certificate, Lethal Injection, The Predator, Bow down
Ghostface Killah - Enter the Wu, Wu-Tang Forever, The W Ironman, Supreme Clientele, Big Doe Rehab, Wizard of Poetry, Fishscale
Com Sense - Resurrection, One Day It'll All Make Sense, Be, Finding Forever, Dreamer/Believer ( he just made it, cause Dreamer really is a good album)
Fat Joe - Jealous One's Envy, Don Cartegena, Jealous One's Still Envy, Me, Myself and I, The Darkside
Raekwon - Enter the Wu, Wu-Tang Forever, The W, Cuban Linx, Cuban Linx II, Shaolin vs Wu-Tang
RZA - Enter the Wu, Wu-Tang Forever, The W, Digital Bullet, Bobby Digital in Stereo, The Pick, The Sickle and the Shovel

The only undisputed answer I can give to this question is Ice Cube

I cant speak for KRS im not into his music like that, but judging from what i know and have read he has at least 3-4 definitive excellent albums

Cant speak for Kool G Rap

Ghost is close but he doesnt qualify for 5 simply on account of the fact that unlike hard core Wu heads i dont consider Wu Tang Forever to be excellent by any means. He has 3 great/excellent albums (i liked bulletproof wallets, fishscale etc but to me those were good albums but not excellent). So he has 36 chambers, ironman and supreme clientele, but really if we re gonna count 36 chambers how can we not count ob4cl?

To me Pac has 4, but Im a Pac fan and i love Thug Life but i can respect that is not a universal statement

Outkast can make an argument for 4

Quik can make an argument for 4

Scarface has 4, i dont consider the world is yours, or even the fix to be excellent and i fukks with face

Jay and nas definitely dont have 5 excellent albums

So yeah, Ice Cube...

the thing about Ace, whom i love more so than the typical Ace fan, is he really only has 1 maybe 2 GREAT albums. Slaughterhouse & Sittin' On Chrome. Take a Look Around has great songs but it was sort of a sleeper, late 80's juice crew joint that not many people connected with (or even heard...his name was even MASTER ace)....but 'Postin High' is an all time Ace song IMO.

the disposable arts era is when mad trustafarians got into Ace and in truth the beats were a bit tinny.

I love Take a look around, Marley Marl's production was fukking incredible on that record and Masta did his thing. Disposable Arts and Long Hot Summer are GREAT albums too, imo, if only for the conceptual part alone.

The Predator isn't excellent. But given how watered down this thread has become i'd accept it. That still leaves him one short. Bow Down SUCKS. i guess KILL AT WILL gets him to 5 but he's crawling there.

KRS & Ghost make it there more readily.

I was considering Predator and Bow Down to be honest but I also have "west coast ears" (although certainly alot more refined that our resident Mack 10 fan from earlier)

However i definitely respect the argument that Cubes complacency and slide into gangsterism should never be considered excellent especially by the standards
Of his earlier work.

In light of this, i can say then that i cannot think of one hip hop artist that has 5 definitive excellent albums, if we stick to a respected concept of excellence
