This thread is a perfect example of why there's so many idiots signing their lives away on a daily basis. EVERY ARTIST EVER ON CASH MONEY HAS CLAIMS OF NOT BEING PAID yet people are picking Cash Money. 99% of the shady aftermath roster never released anything yet people are picking them. You get signed to a multi album deal and the 1st does just good not great and the label decides not to drop you for the tax write off but not push your career then you end up on a shelf releasing mixtapes to try and get them to believe in you again. As an artist you want your work to be appreciated and at the end of the day you want to own your work. There's no guarantee that Adele's label will understand what you're doing with your music but good bad or ugly you'll own it so you'll be a few steps ahead of tons of artist. Number 5 trumps all the others

Exactly. This is why I don't care for these rappers the label fukked me over stories.

Every dude in here ready to sign their life over to a shytty deal because it's attached to a high profile name. You don't own your masters then you have nothing and if you don't have creative control then you're a puppet.

#2 is a fantasy. No label is letting you have all the publishing and the sales. Nevermind fukking birdman williams. The correct answer should be #5. Give me all my masters and creative control. If I want to be a high price slave give me the interscope deal. At least it will lead to endorsements.

kids and youngins are not the brightest when it comes to business decisions. there's a reason why labels rather sign a 16 year old to a 7 album deal than to sign a 35 year old to a 1 album deal. they know the old head aint having it. they know the old head will most likely refuse to be a puppet. only kids and youngins that are super broke(most are going in) go for the okie doke

now there are times when you do the math and you realize, even if they jerk me to some degree. i will still end up a rIch man after the deal is said and done. if thats the case. TAKE THE DEAL. assuming you dont have to sell your soul(and rap about whatever they want you to how they want you to and be the guy/chick selling poison on every song to our community. its one thing to make street music its another to be the reason why we in them streets thru glorification of the streets vs telling real stories of winning and losing in dem streets.

Everyone thinks they'll be different. The standard record deal, you would have to go triple platinum to be "rich". That's like 1 out of every 200 artist. And you not getting there with non pop street music.

#6 since you get the most money upfront my music will probably be garbage so im not so worried about 100% publishing and I can make money off other artists since I get my own label.
