I was born in 86. I saw most of it, but didn't realize what I was watching until the mid to late 90s. I'll tell you guys a story...
I'm from SoCal. My dad's birthday is the middle of June. So, every year since I can remember, my parents go to the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl to celebrate my dad's birthday. That year, one of the days of the festival was held on
June 14, 1998. That's the same day as Game 6 of the 1998 Finals. I went with my parents to the festival that day.
Now, the Hollywood Bowl is a massive venue. This is how it looks.
During the show, thousands of people were watching Game 6 on portable TVs, and when Jordan hit the last shot over Russell, the whole place went wild. They went wild like we were actually at the game. I was 11, and it was surreal. All the way in Hollywood, in the middle of a massive Jazz Festival, everyone was watching Jordan. This was before the internet even really took over.
He was must see TV.
