People were calling him the best ever in the 80s, because they hadn't seen anything like him. I wish I still had the video but there was this program around 88 and they were interviewing Mike. They were calling him the best to ever play and it wasn't a crazy statement. The accumulation of awards and rings just gave him a more concrete case.

Like watching Kobe & LeBron play on the same team but as 1 person. My main memory of Jordan was of my dad screaming when he shot over Craig Ehlo and beat the Cavs:damn:

Dude was UNSTOPPABLE

You pretty much had to watch bulls games to completion because if the Bulls were trailing MJ was gonna put on a show.

Exactly this!

Raw athletic ability like Bron but more refined like Kobe.

He is one of the few players where you'd find yourself watching them every second.

Dude was just.....cool. The shoes, baggy shorts and trash talk was must see TV.

Plus NBA on NBC >>>> ESPN/ABC

He was like a real life superhero to kids like us growing up. As corny as that sounds its the truth. As far everyone else, Jordan had people that didnt even watch sports tuning in to watch him play.

Especially playoff time on a weekend afternoon. That NBC theme would come on and everybody would watch like it was a gotdamn movie.

Then the Bulls intro music:

We were spoiled man.

As a fellow kid who grew up in that era, I co-sign every word of this :wow::wow::wow:

Imagine Brady but Black.
90s era Jeter is the best comparison I could think of. Especially growing up in NYC. Dude was everywhere and beloved by all.
Swag, confidence, clutch gene, professionalism. :yeshrug: He’s the reason I became a baseball fan

Professionalism means a lot too. These guys (Jeter and Jordan) played every game to the last second and played hard every single night. Not like most of the play from this era (Lebron included) who take games off (sitting out or even just coasting and bullshytting for most of the game once there stats are in)

That and they played with supreme confidence and never once called themselves the best players in their respective sport or position. Truely let their game do the talking
