What will it take for the NBA to overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in the USA?

All of those teams' fans probably feel they have a shot next year

Anyone can "probably feel" they have a chance

Do YOU feel all of those teams have a shot? If I put you under truth serum you might laugh your ass off at some of those

Yep, even the lower ranked teams could have a shot if they win a few close games. I'm a Bears fan and I'm thinking if we can win a few home games, nick a few tight ones, sneak a wildcard spot we're in the playoffs, and in a straight knockout anything can happen; win a couple of surprise games and we're in the SB; back in 2011 we got to the championship game with Cutler and almost beat the Packers (was 7 down and in the redzone at the end). Yeah it's highly unlikely but you never know, NFC is a lottery in recent years.

Now I'm a Bulls fan and there is 0% chance we even get to the finals nevermind win it all :yeshrug:

You're a fan of an NFC team. Try being a Dolphins fan like me, and then try believing in that NFL parity nonsense. ANYBODY can win the NFC, but the Pats and a select few have the AFC on lock. The same way you feel about he Bears having a chance and the Bulls not having a chance, is the same way I feel as The Heat always having a shot to become a contedner, and the Dolphins limping to a 9-7 season while New England wins the Division AGAIN for the 17th or so year. Notice all the Pro-NFL parity arguments in this thread are coming from those who are fans of NFC teams. I don't see any Browns, Chiefs, Chargers, Titans, Phins, Jets, Bengals, Bills, Texans, Jags, or even Raiders fans in here championing NFL parity. Tom Brady might as well be NFL LeBron....

:manny:

Would you honestly be surprised if Oakland or KC didn't the AFC next year? Would you honestly be surprised if New England repeated as conference champs, or if Pitts won the conference next year?

Be Honest....

Football playoffs and basketball playoffs are not the same. Football is one and done. Of course every team thats in the playoffs has a a legit chance to win. Basketball, Football & Baseball is best of 7. The bets team will usually win 9 times out of ten.

As far as basketball taking over in popularity, they would need to change the schedule. Baseball is a warm weather sport meaning people have more "free time" to indulge in it. Football is one twice a week well it was now it's 3 times and its killing the product more than any concusion. Basketball is in the fall and winter, people are busy with school and work, not many weekend games, most games are at night. It gets dark earlier.

Nfc, any team has a chance. But Pats and Steelers, and maybe raiders should be the only AFC teams on your list. AFC isn't known for its parity. It isn't wide open like the nfc.

It's not but the Chiefs almost beat the Steelers last yr. And they've competed with NE the past few yrs

That's all nice and well, but NFL parity is built so much on hope. All these "almost won" moments in the AFC keep getting championed as if the same 3 teams haven't won the conference the last 13+yrs. Hell, the last 5yrs:

Patriots have been in 7 straight championship games :russell:

And unless something miraculous happens it's gonna be 8 :russell:

Hell if Brady actually plays 7-8 years like he said and the team keeps being the best, they could make 14-15 straight :russell::russell::russell:
