What will it take for the NBA to overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in the USA?

These dudes don't get out or don't watch sports shows besides that shyt on TNT. Dudes trying to downplay the MLB. I don't even really pay attention to it, but opening day is a huge sporting event, one of the biggest of the year, in most cities with a team. Baseball is still fukking huge and is obviously more popular than the NBA

I watch baseball. It's my fav sport. I've been to plenty of baseball games minor and major league. Opening day is an event. It's turning into a regional sport and even then all you hear about are the Yankees, Red Sox, Giants, Cardinals, Dodgers. They have a lot of problems.

Kids play baseball all year round. That's not a good thing. That's how they mess up their shoulder by college never mind the pros.

Pitchers that are divas and getting pissy over every slight towards them. All of them.

Managers that can't manage a bullpen to save their lives.

Not playing hot players and vets overstaying their welcome.

The DH (and I don't care about it)

The Nationals existing (the MLB version of the Thunder)

Marlins Park. Loria in general.

The McCourts. The Wilpons. Steinbrenner. Marge Schott.

PEDs being the biggest sin

Not being able to trade draft picks,

White people telling Latino players to stop injecting their personalities into the sport. ex: Bat flips and shyt.

Blacks are non-existent.

Asian players from overseas are hit-or-miss

And I haven't even talked about the racism.

Ohh, awesome. Family's from the West Indies. But isn't cricket basically the international version of baseball in a way?

hahahaha

cricket is kind of difficult to explain as a comparison to baseball

it has many what could be considered strange quirks

and the scoring system is drastically different.

Over half the NBA makes the playoffs, so making the playoffs means exactly jack shyt :heh:
You can almost always predict who has a legit chance in the NBA and it's rarely more than 4 teams. Last year for example Spurs, GS, OKC, and Cleveland. Who else had a realistic chance to win? The year before that it was the same teams. This year you have "3" and have all season. Last year in the NFL you had the Seahawks, Cowboys, Pats, Packers, Steelers all could have realistically made the superbowl and this is after the season has been going. Nobody even predicted Dallas to be there. Hell I'll even throw the Raiders in there cause they had the offense to. It's not as straight up predictable even when the Pats do dominate but that's cause they get a free 6 wins every year playing that merry go round of trash teams that can never get it together.
ALL those teams you named(save for the raiders) are all in the NFC. That was my point. ALL the parity is in the NFC, while the AFC is almost as predictable in the NBA.

As a dolphins fan, the AFC might as well be the NBA to me. The pats winning the AFC East is just as much of a guarantee as Cleveland winning the conference.

That's fool gold. What we consider parity in the NFL is fools gold. ALL year we knew the chiefs had potential. Same with Oakland, Houston, etc, but when it was all said and done, the ACC title game came down to Pits vs NE. The two teams who have dominated the conf for the past 10yrs. And be made it for the 2nd time in 3yrs.

Thats
That's because more then half the league makes the playoffs in the NBA. It's not an accomplishment to be an 8th seed
That's fools gold at the end of the day, because even with the rotisserie of AFC Teams making the playoffs, it always ends up being the select two or three every year. Yay Houston made the wildcard round last year!!!! The AFC title game is Pitts vs NE (two typicals) and NE ends up winning the SB.

:martin:

Yay NFL parity!

Who are all of these NFL teams that have a chance to win it?

I am confounded....Okay I will bite.....as of right now name 6 NFL teams that could win the Superbowl going into the next NFL season?

Patriots
Falcons
Packers
Steelers
Cowboys
Seahawks
Chiefs
Raiders
Giants

All of those teams' fans probably feel they have a shot next year

Yep, even the lower ranked teams could have a shot if they win a few close games. I'm a Bears fan and I'm thinking if we can win a few home games, nick a few tight ones, sneak a wildcard spot we're in the playoffs, and in a straight knockout anything can happen; win a couple of surprise games and we're in the SB; back in 2011 we got to the championship game with Cutler and almost beat the Packers (was 7 down and in the redzone at the end). Yeah it's highly unlikely but you never know, NFC is a lottery in recent years.

Now I'm a Bulls fan and there is 0% chance we even get to the finals nevermind win it all :yeshrug:

Nfc, any team has a chance. But Pats and Steelers, and maybe raiders should be the only AFC teams on your list. AFC isn't known for its parity. It isn't wide open like the nfc.
