What will it take for the NBA to overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in the USA?

Who are all of these NFL teams that have a chance to win it?

I am confounded....Okay I will bite.....as of right now name 6 NFL teams that could win the Superbowl going into the next NFL season?

I will give u that since the NFL has become more qb reliant that the teams that have a longer window to contend are the ones with great qbs

If you have a Brady Rodgers or Manning in his prime u will at least have a chance every year to win even if the supporting cast is not great

But teams do come out of nowhere. Nobody thought the Falcons would make the playoffs last year. You can't give me an equivalent of that the NBA where a team wasn't even picked to make the playoffs and came whithin inches of winning a title

This year I could predict the NBA finals before it started

Chances are u will not predict the super bowl matchup correctly

Achieved only by making NBA playoffs single elimination

which based on nba history makes no sense

If the NBA wanted to hold an in season competition and some award sure.....but the NBA playoffs has always been a test of wills in a series

And when the bulls, lakers, spurs, celtics were running up chips nobody had an issue with parity

people are just talking out their ass.....

See, that's where NFL parity is judged differently than the NBA. If a bum NBA team who didn't make the playoffs last year, makes the playoffs this year, if they get whooped by Cleveland in the semi's or conference finals, no one views their run as relevant, and folks don't count that towards NBA having parity. But in the NFL if X bum team who didn't make the playoffs last season, ends up making the playoffs next season, than it doesn't matter if they get whooped by New England in the playoffs, folks will still view X team making the playoffs as a relevant feat, and will count that towards the NFL having parity.

Over half the NBA makes the playoffs, so making the playoffs means exactly jack shyt :heh:
You can almost always predict who has a legit chance in the NBA and it's rarely more than 4 teams. Last year for example Spurs, GS, OKC, and Cleveland. Who else had a realistic chance to win? The year before that it was the same teams. This year you have "3" and have all season. Last year in the NFL you had the Seahawks, Cowboys, Pats, Packers, Steelers all could have realistically made the superbowl and this is after the season has been going. Nobody even predicted Dallas to be there. Hell I'll even throw the Raiders in there cause they had the offense to. It's not as straight up predictable even when the Pats do dominate but that's cause they get a free 6 wins every year playing that merry go round of trash teams that can never get it together.

again that can happen because of a single game format......

its why spectacularly bullshyt NCAA basketball squads can reach final fours....playing a series eliminates that cindirella bullshyt. If you are the better team prove it over time

Joe Flacco won a Superbowl and got paid when we full well know that he and the Ravens are pretty much NOT TITLE CONTENDERS on a consistent basis

Of course but the hard cap also plays a huge factor

Teams are so drastically different every that it's hard to tell year to year who's gonna be good

The only consistent teams are the ones with the all time great qb which there are only 2 of right now for everyone else it's a year to year sport

it's cute y'all have hope NBA gonna overtake nfl.

y'all talk about oversaturation but 82 games is too much to keep up on for a casual fan and games on every night

nfl fans pretty much just plan around Sunday, it's much more of an event.

and y'all talk about predictability when everyone already called the finals before the season started

When Bron retires the league is gonna suffer greatly

Love him or hate him he's what the casual fan will tune into see in the finals

And he's so much better then anyone else in the league it's scary

Dudes really don't think NBA more popular than the MLB in this day and age?

Baseball is like 3rd most popular sport in the US. Hockey is 4th. and they're a distant 3rd and 4th because they have no personalities 'cept good ol' boys who "play the game the white way"

Thats what I'm saying, people in here like they gotta get past the MLB first I'm like they already did

and they're an ol' boys rich club, which depending how you see it, doesn't work in their favor attracting other nationalities to play the game. look at golf and tiger's sucking/retirement/age, nobody gives a shyt about them anymore. look at women tennis, outside of sharapova/williams sisters, no one cares about it. futbol is still the king

Not Bron. Not close
I've seen more Curry jerseys than Bron jerseys. He's the new shinny, new toy. The new marketable star. He looks like a high schooler.

Plus the christian values thing, his wife, his sliver spoon upbringing. He's safe. Attainable. Not like demi-god Bron.

The funny thing is, AI was Curry's favorite player growing up.
