What will it take for the NBA to overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in the USA?

Hockey isn't an American sport. Nor does it provide the spectacle the NFL does. American Football speaks to the soul of modern America: fighter jets, military tributes, white coaches and QBs as the generals who lead the faceless negroes into literal violent battle... The helmets and the interchangeable nature of players on the roster dehumanize the bulk of the players so you never have to feel too bad about the crimes they commit, nor the fact they destroy themselves for non-guaranteed contracts.

Hockey is actually a fascinating sport. Football makes no fukking sense. No fanbase knows less about the games they watch.

Kaep getting blackballed will also give them a huge boost even moreso with white conservatives who will feel this is still the one sport that speaks to them

And it's funny u say it's the fanbase that knows the least about the sport. I've always said that

The other sports if you're a hardcore fan for years you can easily breakdown what's going on. Maybe not as good as someone who played it as a pro but you can see what's happening in front of you and articulate it

In football you only see part of the field. Unless I watch game film which 99 percent aren't u really can't tell what the fukk is going on

Can anyone really tell who the fukkin best guard is?

Even cornerback where told who is but on tv u can't see what he's doing on every play or what his assignment might have been

The NBA has a much younger fanbase that's why they dominate their. The average NFL fan age is 40 something their not on twitter

The nytimes had an article that theres over 90 million ardent NFL fans in this country meaning over 90 mill that consume the sport and look things up about it at least 3 times a week.

Yes alot of it is gambling but regardless it's so far ahead of the other sports it's crazy

As time goes on and those fans die the NFL will be in big trouble. It's very similar to what's happening to baseball, just on a slower pace.

that is because basketball is a worldwide sport. Gridiron football is an American thing.

the NBA is already 10x bigger than the NFL will ever be on a global scale, which is why it has more internet presence, but it's not indicative of the popularity of each sport in the U.S.

Also, I could be wrong but I think gambling is declining among younger generations, another vestige of the past. iPhone apps may fix this though.

In the US I'm not sure what it will take tbh, NFL seems to be king over there and it will take that league callapsing under concussions for it to fall.


World wide basketball is a far bigger sport though, I've never met a single person who plays American football or watches regularly but I know a lot who watch the NBA plus our local team the Glasgow rocks.

The accessibility of basketball ensures it will always be a bigger worldwide sport.

Probably wont happen for a while if ever but if the NFL keeps fukking with the rules and this CTE thing keeps making young stars retire early then the NBA could sneak in and potentially grab that number 1 spot.

Americans have transitioned to big up football as the sport of the country (fukk ur old money baseball) and the NFL openly makes sure cacs win 9 times out of 10 and the only blacks who are allowed to win are very white friendly. Basically the NFL is the sport of the majority

NBA is the sport of blacks and eurocacs, and that isn't going to change any time soon. The NBA recognizes that & that's an important reason why global expansion is far ahead of trying to be #1 in this country
