saying that isometric contraction is irrelevant just flies in the face of everything you hear about compound lifts like the infamous "heavy deads and squats and low bodyfat give you abs"

i will say this though, i dont do shrugs yet my traps are pretty proportional from DL and OH Press :manny:

If you have been increasing the DL steadily/strategically, would it have made a difference? Did your routine change at all? Was it just general progression? You were overtrained deadlifting before, don't you think changing things up effected anything? What if you dropped the weight a bit and spent time on form seperately? There's a lot of variables to consider. Deadlift is a unique exercise. You don't have to constantly do it to improve in. Squats, especially power and box, will ramp up your DL along with general back strengthening. Were you not doing these? So again, was it just general progression?

Who knows. You're stronger now either way.

I said they don't do shyt for growth, which they don't.

You're aiding my point.
it helped me through a plateau. I didn't do any other assistance exercises. you can modify the height of the rack and pull through whatever range of motion you want. all I know is my traps looked like they belonged to bill goldberg after a set.

Rack pulls and static squats definitely have their place...I remember being in my first Calculus course thinking all these theorems my professor were meaningless and then I had that :ohhh: moment.

My point was for GROWTH you'd be wasting time relying on isometrics.

Just indirectly agreeing with the basis of unit321's post. DL is a leg/low back lift. You wouldn't call front squats an upper body exercise just cuz it stabilizes the weight while your legs do the work... or would you? :mjpls::lolbron:
