I only used "lower chain" for lack of a better word. When I say lower chain department stores I'm talking about K&G/Burlington coat factory and Marshalls. The stores where you can get some name brands at a much cheaper price than you would at the mall.

2003 was the last real good run for Sean John. 50 Cent took a pic in I think it was the Source wearing this exact gray denim Sean John bomber jacket I had in Spring of 03'. As you can guess, I'm .
By 2004, Kanye flipped the script and had everyone wearing all Ralph everything. This and the button up trend/ premium denim trend of 04' started the shift away from urban fashion. In 04', LRG started popping too and was the only real quasi-urban brand to survive the purge of urban clothing before becoming played out in like 07'. Urban clothing was still popping in 05', folks were still rocking Girbauds, State Property and Rocawear and stuff like that. But urban fashion was nowhere near as big as it was in like 98-01'. By 07', urban clothing was dead and replaced by a streetwear obsession with tacky all over print everything (i.e. Bape, Supreme, 10Deep, the Hundreds). So Rocawear and Sean John last days was about 03-05'.

In 2006, Sean John and Rocawear were still big. They were all over Macy's with posters all over Time Square.
But when that Gucci, LV, ETC became heavy in hip-hop circle it was over.
They died with Hip-Hop fashion.
When the woat Mohawk era started 08/09.
